Mappin & Webb Sterling Silver Engraved Inkwell Stand with turned out feet (Missing Glass Inkwells) and Weighted Sterling Silver Button Hook. The Inkwell stand is engraved "W Bro. & Mrs. W. Barker. From the Members of The Camden Lodge of Instruction With Fraternal Good Wishes. Jan. 1946". The Inkwell Stand is hallmarked "M&W" for Mappin & Webb, the Crown Assay mark for Sheffield , the Lion Passant for Sterling Silver and the date letter "Q" for 1908. It measures approx. 22.5cm in length and approx. 14cm in width. Total Gross Weight of the Sterling Silver Inkwell Stand is approx. 380 grams. AN ENGRAVED CAST BRASS DIVIT PEN CASE WITH CHRISTIAN SYMBOLS Armenia or Ottoman Eastern Provinces, second half 19th centuryOf typical shape, comprising a narrow rectangular pen case compartment with rounded and curved terminals, attached to a faceted, bulbous inkwell on the front, the exterior engraved with a number of traditional Ottoman decorative motifs including knotwork bands, heart-shaped palmettes, and arabesque gridwork, on the neck of the pen case next to the inkwell an inscription in Armenian characters reading Ohanessian, possibly the name of the patron and owner, the curved terminals decorated with winged cherubs, and on the outer side of the pen case's body a drop-shaped cartouche in-filled with the Christian symbol of the pure Lamb of God, an allegory of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, suggesting the divit belonged to and was specifically commissioned by an Armenian Christian, stamped on the base of the inkwell with an Armenian mark, 4.5cm x 25.4cm. 4.5cm x 25.4cm Qty: 1

A very rare whitewood paint decorated and labelled Tunbridge ware travelling inkwell, sander and box in the form of a cottage with retailer's label, the circular box base with black on white oval printed label 'Palmer and Sons, Pen Cutters, East Grinstead', below a circular cottage with door, bird cage, trellis pattern window and foliage unscrewing at the base to reveal a sander, the 'thatched' circular roof with open chimney allowing access to the glass inkwell below, 6.2cms dia. at base, 11.5cms high. ) Two photographs of trade cards for Palmer and Sons are in the Banks collection of Trade Cards (pamphlets) held by the British Museum, D.2.443 and D.2.454, where Palmer and Sons are recorded as 1800 - (fl.c). These are extensive advertisement for the business as well as poems relating to their wares, with extensive claim of British and Foreign Monarchs patronage, i.e. 'Pens The same as made for His Majesty's Private Use', Thomas Palmer, Post Master, Printer and Stationer, at East Grinstead, Sussex'. A papier mache table cabinet, circa 1860, raised on a bracket plinth, the sides with pearl embellished floral painted panels within broken mother of pearl borders, the front enclosed by a pair of doors each with a mother of pearl figure of a child within fruiting vine oval panels incorporating mother of pearl, the shaped border overhanging lid with a raised razor blade panel painted with a ruined church in wooded landscape. The box form top lined in ruched silk, the doors opening to reveal a centre arched niche flanked by three small drawers with a long drawer above and below, the lower drawer fitted with a writing slope complete with brass top inkwell, the drawers with mother of pearl flowerhead knobs, replaced to the top drawer, overall rubbing to gilt embellishments, 33.5 x 25 x 34cms.
