* Dighton (Robert). The First Meeting of the Princess of Brunswick, with The Prince of Wales, and The Marriage of The Prince of Wales, to the Princess of Brunswick, pub. Laurie & Whittle, 19th May 1795 & 20th June 1795, respectively, pair of mezzotint engravings with original hand colouring, some dust soiling and staining largely confined to margins, each approx. 360 x 255mm (14 x 10 inches), framed and glazed in 19th century stained wood frames. The marriage was a farce as George immediately returned to his mistress`. The pair were never reconciled and the animosity that grew between them culminated in Caroline`s very public humiliation in being denied entrance to her husband`s coronation. (2)
