Keiko Minami (Japanese, 1911-2004) Church with steeple by the sea signed lower right "Keiko Minami" and numbered 20/50 etching and aquatint 33 x 31cm (13 x 12in) Other Notes: Keiko Minami was a Japanese artist, aquatint engraver and poet. After the war, Minami moved to Tokyo to create children's books, and it was there that she met her future husband, the mezzotint artist Yozo Hamaguchi. Minami and Hamaguchi moved to Paris in 1953 where Minami began studying under Johnny Friedlaender, a pioneer in aquatint etching. Some browning around the edges.

Old Sarum (after John Constable), 1830, mezzotint on india laid paper, a trial proof before letters, before the reduction of the highlights on the shepherd's crook, and beyond the trunks of the trees to extreme right, image size 140 x 214 mm (5.5 x 8.4 ins), plate size 185 x 250 mm (7.2 x 9.9 ins), mounted, together with Spring (after John Constable), 1830, mezzotint on thick wove paper, a later trial proof, with the slight reduction in size, lettered below 'Spring, Painted by John Constable, R.A. Engraved by David Lucas', image size 125 x 244 mm (5 x 9.6 ins), sheet size 282 x 429 mm (11.1 x 16.9 ins), mounted, plus one other proof after Constable by David Lucas of The Young Waltonians (or Stratford Mill), mezzotint on thick wove paper, without letters, some overall soiling Shirley 8g. The Paradise Lost of John Milton with Illustrations by John Martin, 1st edition, Charles Whittingham, 1846, 24 full-page mezzotint plates by John Martin, including 18 labelled Proof, some foxing to plate margins throughout, occasional related marginal soiling, some leaves at front of volume loose, all edges gilt, contemporary olive green half morocco gilt, rubbed and some wear, with upper cover detached, and lower portion of spine missing, imperial 4to (385 x 280 mm, 15.25 x 11 ins) The large-paper edition of John Martin's illustrated Paradise Lost, first published in 8vo in 1825-27. A 19th century reverse glass painting, 'THE DUET', depicting two young ladies singing, in an oval cartouche with foliate decorated spandrels, together with a late 18th century reverse glass mezzotint of the Countess of Coventry, 42 x 37cm (max), both framed. Three 18th century reverse glass prints, including a mezzotint titled 'The FARM HOUSE on FIRE', signed 'L.P. Boitard Fecit', another mezzotint of a king with ermine robes kneeling at the Temple of Bacchus and an unusual reverse glass print in the form of a stained glass window with a cartouche with mythical beast masks, with figures outside a tavern eating and drinking with lead glazing bars, 45.7 x 25.7cm (max). (Some spotting, damp-staining and light browning, a few plates to first work torn and repaired, some plates shaved with minor loss to second volume.) And an 18th century issue Map; 'The Palatine of Chester' by Robert Morden' 14 ins x 16¾ ins (35.5 cm x 42.5 cms).

A Victorian mezzotint of a young girl wearing a frilled bonnet and spectacles sat in an armchair knitting 6 ins x 4½ ins (15 cm x 11 cms), in a decorative gilt frame. An oval black & white engraving by Joseph John Jenkins (1811 - 1885) after John Wood of a young woman holding a letter to her breast in a decorative gilt frame 9 ins x 7½ ins (23 cm x 19 cms). A pair of engraving by William Edwards; after a self portrait by Reynolds, and Grinling Gibbons by Sir G Knellor 7 ins x 5¾ ins (18 cms x 14.5 cms) in elaborate beaded gilt frames. And a pair of head and shoulder portraits of young women in beaded oval frames 5 ins x 4 ins (13 cm x 10 cms).
