Late 18th Century coloured mezzotint, ' Colonel Mordaunt's Cock Match at Lucknow ' by Richard Earlon after Johann Zoffany, 15.5ins x 22ins, framed (with some discolouration)Plate size is 18.25ins x 23ins. We cannot be 100% sure it is an 18th Century version but it does have the date in title as 1786.It is heavily foxed and very undulating with some water damage.
Masonic.- Dighton (Robert) Keep within Compass and you shall be sure to avoid Many Troubles with others endure, mezzotint and engraving in original hand-colouring, uniform browning, 34.5 x 25.5 cm. (12½ x 10 in.), narrow margins, small repair at upper left, platemark reinforced verso, two tiny holes, Carington Bowles, 9 Nov. 1784.
Caricatures.- Second Volume (The) of the British Antidote to Caledonian Poison: contains twenty-five of the most humorous Satirical, Political Prints for the Years 1762 and 63, vol. 2 only (of 2), mezzotint portrait frontispiece and 25 plates, 5 folding, occasional very faint spotting, disbound, contemporary calf upper cover detached, 12mo, E. Sumpter's, [1764].ā Virulent satires directed against John Stuart, third Earl of Bute, royal favourite, and Scottish influence at court, with reference to Wilkes' 'The North Briton', Ossian and Hogarth prints.
