CAST AWAY (2000) - Chuck Noland's (Tom Hanks) Screen-matched Ice Skate AxeChuck Noland's (Tom Hanks) screen-matched ice-skate axe from Robert Zemeckis' drama Cast Away. While stranded on a desert island, Noland fashioned an axe out of an ice skate and a piece of wood, and used it to build the raft upon which he escaped the island. It matches the one seen on-screen through wear and markings on the boot, blade and handle. The axe is made with an intentionally distressed ice skate lashed with a natural fibre rope around a wooden stick. The blade is made of metal. Dimensions: 61 cm x 9 cm x 16 cm (24" x 3 1/2" x 6 1/4") Estimate: £3,000 - 5,000 ΩThis lot will be auctioned on Thursday, November 3rd. Danny carried his axe as he fought against Rosie the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) at the Overlook hotel during the film's climax. The axe is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the film's property master Scott Nifong. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN (1989) - Jason Voorhees' (Kane Hodder) Screen-matched Hockey MaskJason Voorhees' (Kane Hodder) screen-matched hockey mask from Rob Hedden's slasher sequel Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Throughout the film, Jason wore his infamous hockey mask as he stalked and terrorised a class of high-school graduates on a cruise ship en route to New York after being accidentally resurrected from the bottom of Crystal Lake. The mask can be matched to the one seen on screen for the majority of the film from the placement of the markings and stains across it. Out of five made for the production, this was the main hero mask to be worn by Hodder. Originating from the personal collection of Mr. Hodder, this mask shares several characteristics, such as its larger and rounder overall shape, with the masks that were produced by the Part VI vacuum form moulds. A groove runs across the mouth holes on the inside, which indicates it may have cracked under the vacuum pressure or was cast from one of the later Part VI masks. The hockey mask is made from clear acrylic and spray-painted yellow with three painted red triangular emblems on the forehead and cheeks. It features three leather straps held together by a three-sided halter square brass buckle. Intentional distressing has been applied, including the axe crack in the forehead from Part III. Remnants of glue and paint runs are present on the mask's interior, and the leather straps exhibit stains and cracking from being submerged in water during the production.Dimensions: 28 cm x 26 cm x 11 cm Estimate: £40,000 - 60,000 ΩThis lot will be auctioned on Thursday, November 3rd. The auction will begin at 3:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast at propstore.com on auction day to follow the pace. HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION (2002) - Michael Myers' (Brad Loree) Burnt Axe Attack MaskMichael Myers' (Brad Loree) burnt axe-attack mask from Rick Rosenthal's slasher sequel Halloween: Resurrection. Towards the end of the film, Myers was left to die in a fire in a garage after being electrocuted by Freddie Harris (Busta Rhymes). His burnt mask is seen in the final shot, when his eyes suddenly open as a coroner prepares to examine his body. This mask was created for an alternate ending scene where Sara (Bianca Kajlich) and Freddie spoke to Michael while he was lying in a body bag, presumed dead. Michael suddenly grabbed Freddie's throat, and Sara slammed a fire-truck axe into his head. Three alternate endings were filmed for the production and can be seen in the special features on the DVD.The design of the mask for Halloween: Resurrection was almost identical to the one used in John Carpenter's 1978 original, which was famously based on a William Shatner mask. This mask is made of rubber, painted off-white and heavily distressed to appear burnt and melted in places. It is intentionally split down the centre, representing the axe wound, and comes presented on a biscuit foam bust with strips of silver-coloured tape adhered around the edges and underside. There are remnants of stage blood present on the mask and bust. Dimensions (displayed): 27 cm x 33 cm x 44 cm (10 1/2" x 13" x 17 1/4") Estimate: £8,000 - 12,000 MThis lot will be auctioned on Thursday, November 3rd. The auction will begin at 3:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast at propstore.com on auction day to follow the pace. NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, THE (1993) - Behemoth Stop-motion PuppetA Behemoth stop-motion puppet from Henry Selick's fantasy musical The Nightmare Before Christmas. Based on actor Thor Jorgensen and professional wrestler George "The Animal" Steele, Behemoth was a large man in overalls with an axe protruding from his head. He was voiced by Randy Crenshaw and appeared throughout the film, most notably during the opening song, as he dragged Jack Skellington into the centre of town, and later when Lock, Shock and Barrel returned with the Easter Bunny and Behemoth excitedly proclaimed "Bunny!"The puppet is made of foam over a metal armature which allowed it to be posed. It has a detachable replica resin axe, and stands on a resin cast base designed to look like the swirling hills in the movie. The puppet’s feet and lip have been sympathetically restored and the puppet has had minor paintwork touch up in places. The puppet has been opened on the back and its original armature has been removed. The interior now contains a simple framework structure which allows it to stand upright. Dimensions: 37 cm x 23 cm x 23 cm (141/2" x 9" x 9" ) Estimate: £6,000 - 8,000 Ω This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, November 3rd. The Headless Horseman carried an axe in multiple scenes, notably wielding two axes when he attacked the village midwife Beth Killian (Claire Skinner) and her family in their home. He held this style of axe in his right hand. The weapon comprises a metal axe head with lighter silver paint applied along the bit, and a long, dark-stained wooden handle. The lot displays scuffing on the handle, scratches on the axe-head, and a mark on the butt. Dimensions: 71 cm x 27 cm x 6 cm (28" x 10 1/2" x 2 1/4") Estimate: £4,000 - 6,000 MThis lot will be auctioned on Thursday, November 3rd. A RARE BLACK-GROUND 'BOYS AND RAMS' BROCADE PANEL15th/16th centuryThe silk satin panel finely woven with repeating patterns of boys riding white goats or rams, each figure elegantly dressed in fur-trimmed red and green winter robes, carrying a flowering prunus branch suspending a bird cage over the shoulders, all surrounded by camelias and the Precious Objects including flaming pearls, coral branches, jewels, ruyi heads, lozenges, scrolls, cash and double axe heads, all on a black ground, mounted.59cm (23 2/8in) long x 23.5cm (9 2/8in) wide.Footnotes:十五/十六世紀 黑地童子騎羊紋錦Provenance: Jacqueline Simcox Ltd., LondonAn English private collectionPublished and Illustrated: Jacqueline Simcox Ltd., Chinese Textiles and Works of Art, London, 2005, p.23來源:倫敦古董商Jacqueline Simcox Ltd.英國私人收藏出版著錄:Jacqueline Simcox Ltd.,《Chinese Textiles and Works of Art》,倫敦,2005年,頁23Elegantly woven in black silk, the present panel is remarkable for its vivid imagery and well-preserved colour. The popular design of boys riding goats is associated with the arrival of spring, and with it, the new year, Winter Solstice, conveyed by the character yang for ram being a homonym for sun, which also represents the male principle thus investing the word with connotations of new life and fertility. The Winter Solstice marked the rebirth of the sun and the beginning of the yang (male) half of the year, and the prunus and camellia flowers, some of the first Spring blossoms, herald the end of winter.Compare with a very similar 'boys and goats' silk panel, 15th/16th century, illustrated by Feng Zhao, Treasures in silk, Hong Kong, 1999, no.08.09.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
