WWII – Adolf Hitler a remarkable volume of manuscript poetry written by Otto Brenner who has written extensively on the virtues of Hitler and the Third Reich. 88 pp 8vo written on rectos only blue card wrappers. The volume is divided into two chapters each marked with a drawing – the first shows a cross beaming down on a swastika and is entitled ‘Blon am Kreuz’ [Light on the Cross]. The second depicts a rotating swastika with one of its beams shining down on a broken cross entitled ‘Axt ans kreuz’ [Axe to the Cross]. The manuscript is dated August 1934. The dedication page reads : [trans] ‘His Excellency Reichschancellor Adolf Hitler the first pure German leader for a pure German Reich dedicated with thanks and on occasion of the taking charge over the Reichsupremacy...’ Together with a partial typed translation and a letter of provenance stating that this was found in one of the office rooms in Hitler’s Chancellery in Berlin in April 1947.

A 19th Century presentation fireman’s axe, 15½” overall, the iron head stamped “Shand Mason & Co”, wooden haft with chequered grip bearing shield shaped silver plaque engraved “C.F.B Presented to Captain Hitchcock for Services Rendered 1889”. A mahogany collector`s cabinet with four drawers, each with turned ivory handles, containing fifteen axe heads of various sizes, thrity-one arrow heads; a Roman oil lamp; and thirty-three fossils and various early stone weights 33cm wide, 46cm high, 20cm deep Note: These items have been assessed by the Treasure Trove unit and are legal to sell. The collection of stone axe heads include an example from Egypt, a greenstone [of Langdale, Cumbria] example found in Dumfriesshire. Two examples from the West Linton area can be found amongst the arrow heads. The fossils include six ammonites and a shark`s tooth.
A small Japanese carved ivory group, with a woodsman, Meiji Period, the woodsman standing, holding an axe, carrying a basket and child, with an attendant figure carrying a kettle, six-character mark, 7.5cms, (3") and another small group with a metal worker, modelled kneeling, beating a sword blade, a standing figure looking on, two-character mark, 5cms, (2"), (2).

A 17th Century German Parade Halberd, the broad blade with medial ridge and wavy base, crescent shape axe head and broad down-curved fluke, all chiselled with foliate strapwork, a crowned L, armorial shield and a crowned double headed eagle, with square socket and a pair of long straps on the wood haft, now covered in brass studded crimson velvet, with tassel fringe, 271cm long.
