AD 55, draped bust of Agrippina Jnr facing bare head of Nero, rev Apollo standing right, firing a bow (RPC 3107). Both very fine and attractive. (2)
WORLD COINS, Italy, Ferrara, Alfonso II d’Este (1534-1549), Silver Bianco, undated, armoured bust left, HERCVLES II DVX FERRARIAE IIII, rev DILIGITE IVST QVI IVDICATIS TERRAM, Justice seating right, holding an axe in her right hand, a scale in her left hand, 4.93g (CNI 58, MIR 296). A number of light horizontal scratches on portrait, good very fine for issue and very rare.

A Japanese ivory group of figures, Meiji period, including a wood cutter and a wine merchant, together with an ivorine elephant and polar bearOkimono appears to be composite and possibly not complete. The wood cutter and boy appear to go together but the bundle of faggots which appears to attach to the base is a different colour of ivory. The various components are loose. The boy has a damaged heel. The wine merchant does not appear to be associated with this group. He has a reglued left leg. There is further axe which does not appear to match either of these items. The two further items comprising a bear and elephant are in good condition.
An early Bronze Age 'Bann type' stone axe, dating to around 2000BC of a highly polished green basalt-type rock, with very minimal wear which would indicate it was most likely used for ritual purposes rather than warfare or as a tool. The name of the River Bann in Northern Ireland is normally given to a peculiar type of axe with a semi circular blade and sharply indented waist, 10.2 x 8.5cm. Provenance: Given to the vendor in the 1960s, from the effects of his uncle, Harry Watson of Beechpark, a large a country house in Lurgan, Northern Ireland, which is less than a mile from the River Bann.

Provenance Wilfred Fowler, District Officer on Ysabel (Santa Isabel), Solomon Islands in 1929 - 1931 and author of This Island's Mine, 1959, an autobiographical account of his time on the island.

A very rare flintlock gun by Giovanni Maria Loggia dating: first quarter of the 18th Century provenance: Brescia Extraordinary, smooth, round, 16 mm cal. barrel, the visible part is entirely chiselled with the effigy of a figure, masks, trophy, angel, birds, helmet, axe, torch and floral motifs on granulated ground, with foresight; flintlock signed "G. M. LOGIA", chiselled and decorated with brass-plated open-works featuring floral engravings; full stock of antique shape, chiselled with floral motifs and frame, with brass mounts featuring floral engravings.
