Runnaford Pottery - A Will Young 'Widecombe Fair' figural group 'Bill Brewer Has His Fortune Told At Widecombe In The Moor', signed to the base, approximately 19 cm (h).Condition Report: Some areas of slight loss including the ear of the dog below the table, the cooking pot stirrer, the axe handle and the characters whittling knife otherwise no apparent damage.
Brett (Simon) Axe of God, number 6 of 40 portfolios, 12 wood-engravings by Brett, each titled, numbered and signed in pencil, with explanatory booklet in original wrappers loose in pocket at beginning, loose as issued in original cloth drop-back box, folio, n.p., 2013.⁂ A reflective series of engravings begun in 1984 and originally issued as single prints in editions of 60 from 1987 onwards. In 2013 a further 40 sets were issued as portfolios to accompany the artist's retrospective exhibition An Engraver's Progress: Simon Brett - Fifty Years of Wood Engraving at the Bankside Gallery London, Oxford and the Holburne Museum, Bath.

Composite Indian Axe, 19th Century, iron head in the form of a tiger from which issues a broad curved single edge blade terminating in an antelope’s head and decorated overall with gold koftgari work including Islamic inscriptions, tiger stripes and geometric decoration, mounted at the time on an earlier 7 stage iron haft covered with silver foil koftgari. Head 18cms (maximum) overall 66cms. Good condition, koftgari worn overall, tiger’s tail missing.
Speculative Assortment of Mostly Incomplete and Mostly Indian Weapons Parts and Associated Objects, including 2 katar hilts of Tanjore type, early iron dagger and sword hilt, 2 tulwar hilts, small axe, kukri, lance head and 2 shoes, small rectangular brass shield, Khyber knife and kard, parts of water pipes, 2 bettel cutters, a leather cup holder (possibly early Ottoman); the following reproductions - painted bone flask, 2 daggers, 2 sword hilts; and a few further items. Average condition well worn and damaged.
An Eastern sword with leather covered hilt and leather covered scabbard, a similar dagger and a similar axe. CONDITION REPORT: Axe length 68 cm maximum. Blade width maximum 20 cm. Maximum height of axe head including section in the wooden haft 17 cm. The axe does not have any woodworm. There do not appear to have been any repairs. It is in good original condition. The axe head is slightly loose in the mount. There is very slight movement. The axe shaft has old stress fractures and minor surface scratches and marks but no serious condition issues. The binding is in good order. The blade is a little rusty but has no damage.

Gardiner. 1/R Sc: Fus.); British War and Victory Medals (7099 W.O. Cl.2 L. G. Gardiner. R.S. Fus.) in named card boxes of issue, with outer OHMS transmission envelopes, addressed to ‘Mrs. Eva Gardiner, Axe Vale, Servington Road, Hendon’; Memorial Plaque (Leonard Gardiner) in card envelope, with Buckingham Palace enclosure; Memorial Scroll, ‘Coy. Serjt. Maj. Leonard Gardiner, Royal Scots Fusiliers’, in OHMS transmission tube, similarly addressed, extremely fine (5) £240-£280 --- Leonard George Gardiner was born in Southwark, London, and attested for the Royal Scots Fusiliers in London. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914, was appointed Company Sergeant Major (with the rank of Warrant Officer Class II), and was killed in action during an attack on Bellewarde Spur at 4:15 a.m. on 16 June 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. Sold with named Record Office enclosures, and copied research.
