(Honorary Axe for Boarding the Enemy) Superb replacement model, 104x61 mm, cast in Silver and engraved by hand "Le 1er Consul/au Cen Philippe Ferey/Matelot Timonier/Combat du 27 THer an 9/DEVt Boulogne" and subsequently gilt. The recipient was a navy quartermaster (matelot timonier) on the gunship Etna and received this award on 11 Brumaire of year X for having distinguished himself in the combat of Boulogne fl eet on 27 Thermidor year IX. It is during that naval battle that he had his right hand blown away by a cannonball. Extremely rare published reward! Provenance collection "General Stiot". RR! II

A JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD CARVED & STAINED IVORY OKIMONO OF A WOOD CUTTER - BY SHUGETSU, the okimono carved upon a stump base with his axe in his hands, gourd to his side and tools upon his back, the artist has signed the base that reads "Shugetsu", presented in its original tomobako, 22.2cm high.

Burnett, knitted shell bands, native shells, manilla, snake skins, a carved stone axe head and the Reverends silver mounted parasol and walking stick etc. NOTE: The vendors great grandfather The Rev R.W. Burnett (1842-1902) sailed to Fernando Po on June 25th 1870 on "The Pioneer", his wife suffered with a fever and had to return to England with the children, at his own expense he returned with her and then later returned to Africa. She later joined him, however the children remained in England. He was the first Missionary in Fernando Po to record the language of the natives and produced a book of his research.
A pair of Staffordshire pottery figure, Rob Roy, mid 19th century, modelled standing holding a shield and axe, lettering in relief heightened with gilding, height 34 cm, together with a large Staffordshire pottery figure of a Highland hunter, 19th century, modelled seated against a rock holding aloft a pheasant with a brace of hares hanging from his shoulder a dog and gun at his side, all upon a serpentine base.
