Contropiatti e sguardie in carta marmorizzata; tagli rossi, segnalibro in seta verde. Melzi I, 313.I work: 8° (178x110 mm). [2], 109, [1] pages, wanting the last blank leaf. Engraved frame on title page, woodcut decorated initials and head-pieces. Contemporary leather, gilt tools and titles on the spine, marbled edges, green silk bookmark. A fair copy, abrased the covers with some small damages on the corners.First edition of this pamphlet that the Barnabite Bishop Giacinto Sigismondo Gerdil composed in French, trusting his thoughts against the luxury ethical justification. The climate in which he developed the script, in the years when he was tutor to the children of Crown Prince Vittorio Amedeo, is that of the subsequent economic depression in the Seven Years' War and stands as a criticism of the Savoy policy in the support to the luxury. The Author, while making extensive use of principles already congealed without claiming original property, took place in the contemporary debate on in a fruitful and innovative way, erasing many of the traditional positions of Catholic. The aim was to distinguish itself from traditional preachers without refusing the basics of moral doctrine, but arguing with recourse to the reasoning of the philosophes. Part of the work is a textual critic on some passages of all'Essai politique sur le Commerce by Jean François Melon (1734) on the luxury theme.II work: 8° (195x125 mm). 56 pages. Woodcut tool on title page, woodcut decorated initials. Contemporary leather, gilt titles and tools on the spine. On title page inked note with indication of the name of the Author.First edition of this writing by Cerutti (see Melzi, Dizionario di opere anonime e pseudonime I, 313), writer and French politician of italian origin who adhered to the ideas and revolutionary instances, and whose celebrity is due to the Mémoire pour le peuple français, written to support the demands of the Third Estate. Among the most significant intellectual acquaintances should be remembered the one with Mirabeau, of which he made the elogy in 1791. Melzi I, 313.

NO RESERVE Broggia Carlo Antonio. A2. Buon esemplare, diffuse fioriture, numerose carte brunite. Legatura ottocentesca in mezza percallina, piatti ricoperti da carta decorata, titolo impresso in oro al dorso. Contropiatti e sguardie in carta decorata. CXXXVI pages. Engraved tool on title page, engraved decorated initial and head-piece on fol. A2. A fair copy, foxing, browning on many leaves. Nineteenth-century half-percalline, decorated paper on the covers, gilt-tooled title on the spine. Decorated paper on the pastedown and flyleaves.First edition of this work in which the economist from Naples Carlo Antonio Broggia tried to influence the reformist policies of the Bourbon government. After a harsh indictment against Galiani and Intieri, exculpatory of ' vices ' of trade, Broggia complaint luxury consumption, which would eventually strengthen the imbalances of the southern economy. The fact luxury item was identified by Broggia with import goods: its consumption would therefore be a part of increased imports, on the other hand, according to the Author, reduced productive investment. These theses were going to accentuate the moral and ethical considerations of Christian ascendenza that fueled the eighteenth-century debate against luxury. Broggia was exiled in Palermo and this arose the reaction of censorship to another Memoria edited by Broggia in 1754 (Memoria ad oggetto di varie politiche ed economiche ragioni e temi di utili raccordi che in causa del monetaggio in Napoli si espongono e propongono agli spettabili signori...) in which the Author accuse dishonest officials and ministers.
