Alex Grey (American, b. 1953). Acrylic on wood painting titled "The Soul Finds It's Way" depicting a cross-section of a human head below a vibrant and surreal landscape of waving lines and flaming eyes all leading towards the same cosmic vanishing point, 2001. Signed and dated along the lower right. The work is from the "Progress of the Soul" series.Lot Essay:Alex Grey is an American artist known for his spiritual and psychedelic artwork, particularly his Sacred Mirrors series, which includes 21 life-sized paintings exploring human anatomy and consciousness. Grey's work integrates the physical, metaphysical, and spiritual realms, often featuring detailed representations of the body’s systems alongside religious symbols like auras and chakras. His art has been widely exhibited and is recognized for its visionary style, blending sacred, scientific, and psychedelic elements. Grey has been influential in the art world and in psychedelic culture, with his artwork appearing on album covers for bands such as Tool, Nirvana, and the Beastie Boys. He is also a key figure in the Visionary Art movement and has authored several books on art, consciousness, and spirituality.Grey has described Visionary Art as a movement whose mission is to "make the soul perceptible...Visionary art encourages the development of our inner sight. To find the visionary realm, we use the intuitive inner eye: the eye of contemplation; the eye of the soul. All inspiring ideas we have as artists originate here."In 2004, he and his wife, Allyson Grey, founded the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM), a sanctuary dedicated to visionary art located in Wappingers Falls, New York. The CoSM aims to inspire a global community through sacred and visionary art, offering a space for both reflection and worship. He has appeared in various documentaries, such as "ARTmind" and "CoSM The Movie," and has spoken at conferences worldwide. Alongside his artistic work, he and Allyson Grey have created a podcast discussing topics ranging from art to philosophy and spirituality.Unframed; height: 14 in x width: 11 in. Y A GEORGE III KINGWOOD, AMARANTH, TULIPWOOD PARQUETRY AND LACQUERED GILT BRONZE MOUNTED BUREAU PLAT PROBABLY BY AN EMIGRE CRAFTSMAN IN THE MANNER OF PHILIPPE-CLAUDE MONTIGNY AND RENE DUBOIS, LAST QUARTER 18TH CENTURY The gilt-brass banded rectangular top inset with a gilt-tooled blue leather writing surface, above a panelled frieze inlaid with Greek-key motif with two frieze drawers centred by masks headed by acanthus flanked by rosettes and opposing false drawers, with lateral writing slides, the lower border with a ribbon-twist mount, the brass reeded incut square tapering legs headed by laurel swags with square sabots terminating in castors, with a paper label to the pine panelling to underside inscribed in ink 'Brynkinalt RM' 72.5cm high, 122cm wide, 63cm deep Provenance: Possibly supplied to Arthur Hill-Trevor, 2nd Viscount Dungannon (1763-1837) or acquired by Arthur Hill-Trevor, 3rd Viscount Dungannon (1798 - 1862) for 3 Grafton Street, London, thence by descent at Brynkinalt Hall, Denbighshire until sold, Of Royal And Noble Descent; Sotheby's, London, 19 January 2017, lot 382, where acquired by present owner. Although this sophisticated desk, with its 'Etruscan' decoration and interlaced key frieze, has the outward appearance of a French bureau à la grec, a number of constructional idiosyncrasies help to identify it as an unusual example of English craftsmanship. Until recently the bureau plat formed part of the resplendent Hill-Trevor collections at Brynkinalt Hall in Denbighshire and is most likely the output of an émigré ébéniste working in London in the last quarter of the 18th century. London had long tradition of attracting émigré craftsman with the perpetual cycle of European political and religious turbulence of the 17th and 18th centuries spurring their arrival. The lure of the capital reached new heights following the favourable conclusion of The Seven Years' War (1756-1763), a pan-European conflict which did little to dampen the appetite for French fashions in Britain. The maker of the present bureau plat would certainly have had excellent knowledge of French workshop practices and prototypes, namely the output of the celebrated Parisian cabinet-makers Phillippe-Claude Montigny (1734-1800) and René Dubois (1737-1799). The goût grec style swept to popularity in France from the mid-1750s with the celebrated suite of furniture supplied for the collector and financier Ange-Laurent Lalive de Jully. Veneered in kingwood, amaranth and tulipwood and decorated with rosette and laurel swag mounts, the Brynkinalt bureau plat closely follows a well-documented group of bureau à la grec by Montigny and Dubois. However, the Brynkinalt bureau plat diverges in several distinct ways which preclude the possibility of a French origin. Whereas French-made bureau plat use oak, the present desk employs pine in the construction. Further, the oak-lined drawers have front-to-back oak drawer bottoms, where French antecedents would have the grain running side-to-side. The dovetails, with the pronounced fan-shaped tails, are distinctly un-French and quite idiosyncratic being covered by a very thin veneer. The original locks are English, and the lacquered-gilt-brass banding to top, mounts, capping and castors (French models typically employ sabots without castors) all present as English derivatives or casts taken the originals. The presence of a distinctly English 'rococo' influenced ring-pulls to the writing slides further anglicises the French character of the present lot. Interestingly, an almost identical version of this model, sharing the same constructional traits but lacking brass reeding to the legs, is preserved in the collections of the Marquesses of Bute at Mount Stuart, Scotland. The Bute bureau plat is almost certainly from the same émigré workshop and points to a definitive group made for the most prominent families of the day. The present desk formed part of the collections of the Hill-Trevors at Brynkinalt Hall, Denbighshire, on the English-Welsh borders. The family fortune was built at first by Sir John Trevor (1637-1717), an unscrupulous lawyer-turned-politician, who twice held the position of Speaker of House of Commons before being unseated because of a bribery scandal involving the East India Company. He also served as Master of the Rolls 1685 to 1689 and from 1693 until his death in 1717. The financial gains Sir Trevor accrued in these prominent positions allowed him to acquire two London houses on St Clements Lane and Trevor Square, Knightsbridge. All four of his sons predeceased him and his estates, including Brynkinalt, passed to his daughter Anne who married Michael Hill of Hillsborough in Ireland.Arthur Hill, 1st Viscount Trevor (1694-1771), later Arthur Hill-Trevor, 1st Viscount Dungannon, was the second son and also pursued a political career, this time in Ireland as Chancellor of the Irish Exchequer and Commissioner of Irish Revenues. Arthur built Belvoir house in Ireland to designs of Christopher Myers in circa 1750. His son, the Hon. Arthur Hill Trevor (1738-1770), predeceased him also, making him an unlikely candidate for the acquisition of the present bureau plat. Instead, the Dungannon estates, including Belvoir and Brynkinalt, passed to Arthur Hill-Trevor, 2nd Viscount Dungannon (1763-1837) who inherited the title at the age of eight. In 1795, at the age of thirty-two, he married the Hon Charlotte Fitzroy, daughter of General Charles FitzRoy, 1st Baron Southampton (1737 -1797) and grand-daughter of Charles FitzRoy, 2nd Duke of Grafton (1683-1757), and consequently sold Belvoir Park choosing to live between No. 3 Grafton Street, London (built by the Augustus Henry FitzRoy, 3rd Duke of Grafton (1735-1811) to designs of Robert Taylor in 1767) and Brynkinalt Hall. It is conceivable to bureau-plat was acquired before or during this phase of ownership as the Viscountess was a woman of highly cultivated taste and oversaw the significant re-modelling of Brynkinalt which had not been altered since the early 18th century. Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, chips, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.Observations include: the leather to the top has a different gilt tool edging and is either different to the leather on the sliding ends or is faded; the leather to the top also has cracks along the underlying constructions joints; some ormolu mounts are slightly loose eg the edging to to the top of the desk, one of the swags (with a later screw), some of the ribbon edging has vacant holes from missing pins, one brass inlay to one leg is sprung; it is not possible to remove the right frieze drawer as there is a fixed peg/screw preventing it from sliding out; there are two keys that operate the two different locks that suggest one is a later replacement; there is some evidence of old worm; some fading to the back. The Greek key parquetry and ormolu mounts to all sides. Please see all the additional condition report photographs through the link on the condition report email as a visual reference of condition - they are a vital part of this report. German, c.1960, Zeiss, including main stag/stand, 2 Tessovar heads, lamps and other attachments The Carl Zeiss Tessovar is a microscope for photomacrography and macro photography. Its accuracy and flexibility made it invaluable in research, especially in the natural and biomedical sciences.Introduced in the 1960s and 1970s, the Tessovar was designed with two key purposes in mind in West Germany. By the 1980s, a four-objective turret version was developed, expanding its magnification capabilities. Though rare on the second-hand market, it remains highly sought after.Although it resembles a stereo microscope, the Tessovar is actually a parfocal zoom lens optimized for macro photography. It provides a magnification range of 0.4x to 12.8x when using 35 mm film. A four-position nosepiece allows smooth zoom adjustments with auxiliary lenses (0.25x, 0.5x, and 2x).Made from sturdy metal, the Tessovar weighs 1.8 kg, offering stability. It features dual zoom control knobs and an aperture ring that ensures consistent exposure—a significant advantage before the digital era. Its compatibility with Zeiss microscope accessories further enhances its versatility.Practical Uses:Scientific Research: High-resolution imaging supports taxonomy, morphology, and biological studies.Forensic Analysis: Captures minute details crucial for investigations.Industrial Inspection: Helps detect defects in small components during quality control.Education: A valuable tool for studying entomology, botany, and microscopy. The tuned engine and close-ratio gearbox made for a faster 95kmh machine with much-improved acceleration over a standard Li. The Special 150cc engine/gearing combination on these models was also particularly sought after by Lambretta racers who raided the machines for their engines and this has contributed to the rarity of the the model in an original state. The Golden Special is much rarer than the Silver version and was a limited Italian market only edition although it is unknown exactly how many were made, they do not come to market very often.First registered in the UK in 2001, here we present a complete and believed to be correct numbers example, when crossing referenced with other Golden Specials. The other clue is that the rear hub is in original paint. It is in good condition all round. All the keys for the ignition, tool box and the steering lock are present. We also note that the electronics have been uprated to 12v. Offered from a deceased estate and priced to sell accordingly. Registration No: SXI 210 Frame No: SX200-563894 MOT: ExemptMechanical bill of over £2500 alone we are toldTransferable private plate comes with the lotCorrect Matching numbers and authenticated by LCGB. V5C ready for the roadPLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is now being offered with a reduced reserve. In 1952 a group of Basque businessmen trading as Lambretta Locomociones SA obtained a licence to build Lambretta scooters in Spain. In 1964 the company began to use the name Serveta SA for its own commercial activities. Servetas were initially only produced for the Spanish domestic market. However by 1970 Spanish built machines were being sold in the UK by Lambretta Concessionaires alongside their Innocenti equivalents as Italian supply was known to be stopping. By the end of the decade Serveta scooters were being sold in the United States and the UK under their own name. Production finally ceased in 1989. The Jet 200 was produced from 1971 and allowed Lambretta owners to continue their love affair with a new Lambretta after the Italian factory closed in the same year. The Jet 200 utilised an SX200 engine using the same top-end configuration as the Italian version with a similar HP and a Spanish made Dellorto SH20 carburettor. The gearbox was identical to the Italian SX200 and performance was overall the same. A slight larger fuel tank gave a longer range however. They were known as a very well built engine as good if not better than the Italian counterpart for reliability. The body styling was based around the Italian Li ‘Scooterlinea’ but with SX style hexagonal head set. The biggest body change was the airbox being diverted as air flow through grills in the underseat tool box which was separated by a divider in the tool box door. The accessory leg shield box more than made up for the storage space. This scooter has received a full and substantial physical and mechanical restoration by Classic Lambrettas of Nottingham (now Simply Retro) at a cost of over £2500 according to the vendor. He tells us that the scooter performs exceptionally well and is very reliable and has a mileage of 8525. The engine has a 225cc Monza kit with a 60mm stroke Mazzucchelli crankshaft with new bearings. Carburettor; 30mm Delorto with a Reed valve. 12v Varitronic electric ignition. Exhaust; 42mm TSR Evolution. MPG; 52. SIP tubeless polished alloy wheels with tubeless tyres (inc spare). Brakes; front, outboard pepper pot hydraulic disc. rear; drum brake. Fuel tank; 16 litre long range with Fast Fuel tap. 2 stroke fuel mixture 4%. Right side panel is fitted with a carburettor gauzed air breather. Newly fitted front and rear shocks. GP rear light. The side panels are SX200 type and the leg shield is badged as an SX200. Registration No: YTA 871E Frame No: SX150*761854 MOT: ExemptOriginal paint and standard throughout Rebuilt engine (SX150 757514) mechanically excellentGenuine ‘Mela Verde’ (Apple Green) SX150V5 for use on UK roadsThe SX150 first appeared in October 1966 and replaced the 150 Special which had debuted at Milan in 1963. The tuned engine and close-ratio gearbox made for a faster 95kmh machine with much-improved acceleration and was a superb all round scooter. The SX150 engine used a 20mm carburettor and used 2 cylinder head gaskets resulting in a slight increase in power to 9.38hp but with a similar maximum speed to the preceding Special. The SX was presented in new colours and had a chrome strip on the front mudguard. The panels all had the three flashes and a large X150 over the special badge on the front of the leg shield. The rear frame badge reads Lambretta Innocenti on most models and the late models had a rectangular front horn cast badge. Earlier models had a metal tool box and side panel handles while the later SX150s had plastic DL style version tool boxes and clip on panels. In three years of production there were 31,238 produced and production of the SX150 ceased in January 1969.Here we present a rare original ’Mela Verde’ (Apple Green) purchased from Gran Sport of Birmingham 2014, 11 years ago. All numbers are correct and it appears as though original parts have been retained, noticeably, except a new exhaust. The seat is an SX200 original Red Giuliari type and perhaps needing only a minor repair to the original cover. We are informed the scooter rides superbly, with the only flaw being that the original ignition key broke in the ignition and is still in there, although not affecting is use. Genuine Mela Verde SX150s are very rare to see. Many standard SX150s have been repainted in this colour but of course are not the real thing. Registration No: KFL 235G Frame No: 22/2*253510 MOT: ExemptRetains much originality In perfect running condition at time of consignment Correct numbers and only 28 apartRecent perfectionist service by The Magic GarageThe DL200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled-off Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 a total of only 9,350 DL200s were made. The DL200 (GP200 in the UK) followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. There were significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970s. The Nuccio Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/2 frame and rectangular headlight. Only a genuine Italian DL had the famous 'ink splat' on the front of the sleek leg-shield. In Italy the DL200 was only available in the fashionable Ochre colour scheme. In our opinion this is an extremely fine example in exceptionally good condition. Imported from Italy in 2004, it was acquired from Jason, the senior mechanic at Cambridge Lambretta having been his own private scooter. Appearing to retain original paint under the panels and on the frame loop itself, which fit superbly and appear to have been painted to blend with the original frame paint. There are many original parts including the original KMH speedometer which has been re-calibrated to MPH with a replacement face. The original SILME seat is present with a deceptively original-looking cover, the badges and lights all over the scooter appear as original, as is the grey tool box and keys. The engine is still 200cc with a Mugello Mk1 top end, a 30mm Dellorto carburettor, Ancillotto Clubman exhaust and 12v electronics. Our vendor, a scooter perfectionist himself, recently entrusted true perfectionist, Simon Neale at The Magic Garage, to thoroughly go over the entire machine at a cost of £1,342 and the resultant invoice for a myriad of improvements is included with the lot. Registration No: 796 UXG Frame No: 633922 MOT: ExemptGenuine original matching numbers machineSupplied with current V5C, BMW Factory Authentication Certificate, original keys & tool kitCurrent owner for last 14 years, large history fillThe Model R50 is a motorcycle produced by BMW in the second half of the 1950s with a 2-cylinder four-stroke OHV boxer engine. It is the basic model of a series of largely identical touring and sports motorcycles with different powerful engines, which the article with the technical data represents as a whole. The predecessor of the R50 was the BMW R 51/3 model with a rated output of 18kW, with telescopic fork and straight path suspension. The R50 built from 1955 onwards differed from it by the full swingarm chassis with pushed long swingarm and rear swingarm as well as encapsulated suspension and the slightly increased engine power. This 1962 R50, was originally exported to South Africa, and was then imported to the UK in 1990. In 2004, the registration number was changed for an age-related plate. Since 2004, the bike has had just two owners and has been in current ownership since 2011. The bike has had limited use over the past 10 years (2,000km), and was last ridden in summer 2024. It has been regularly serviced, with parts supplied by Bob Porecha (BMW Specialist), who refurbished the brakes and final drive in 2015. The bike is presently fitted with a single Denfeld seat & rack, but also comes with its original twin seat. The large history file fully documents the stages of the bike’s history, including BMW Classic Factory Authentication Certificate, the bills of sale, a large number of MOT certificates, parts invoices and receipts. Also included are service and parts manuals, plus a copy of the owner’s manual. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 61077 MOT: ExemptEntered from a private collection of British motorcycles where it has resided for twenty-five yearsThe subject of an older restoration and now in need of recommissioningA rare 'Birmigham Scott' and badged as a 'Holder Special'Recommencing production in 1946, the Scott Flying Squirrel was little changed from its pre-WW2 guise. Thus, its twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, two-stroke engine drove a three-speed gearbox via a central primary chain and was housed in a rigid duplex frame equipped with Webb girder forks. The latter were soon exchanged for Dowty air-sprung telescopic items but the model had become decidedly ‘old hat’ by the late 1940s. However, Scott had such a loyal following that even the closure of its Saltair factory at the end of 1950 did not signal an end. Instead, long-term marque enthusiast Matt Holder acquired the remaining stock via his Aerco Jig and Tool Company and relocated production to Birmingham. Available for the next decade or so, the ‘Birmingham Scotts’ evolved to feature pivoted fork frames but remained true to the marque’s distinctive powerplant. Reportedly restored prior to being acquired by the late vendor for his collection some twenty-five years ago, this ‘Birmingham Scott’ Flying Squirrel is now in need of recommissioning following a period of disuse. Offered for sale without reserve or paperwork, the Scott Owners’ Club should hopefully be able to assist with getting it DVLA registered again should a new owner wish to return the ‘Holder Special’ to the King’s Highway. Superseding the GS160 Mk2 it was initially going to be designated the GS Mk3 as Vespa archives state. It retained the large tool box on the inside of the leg shield from the GS160 Mk2 and with 10 inch wheels and 4 gears its 181cc motor produced 10HP and gave a top speed of 65MPH. It was the last Vespa model with a piston ported engine. The most noticeable feature is the trapezoidal headlight which it shared with smaller sister models the GL150 and 125. Around 35700 were produced between 1964 and 1968 and today these are highly sought after as fast and elegant and seen as the height of '60s modernist style. This genuine Italian SS180 was discovered in a deceased estate collection around 2010 which became known as the ‘Quantocks Collection’ being discovered in a cottage with other original Vespas just north of Taunton in Somerset. It must have been stored well as the condition is extremely good. Since then, it was cleaned and treated to a fuel service at Disco Dez Scooters and was discovered to be running perfectly. The original seat is in remarkable original condition with its original cover. It benefits from an original replacement SS180 speedometer as the previous one was broken. In our opinion, the Red paint is probably original with the Black feature paint having been added, possibly by a dealer back in the day. The exhaust is an original SITO period accessory. We were able to see the scooter running at the time of consignment. The V5C is present. For more information, please contact: Paul Diamond info@vintagescooters.co.uk 07768 313001

Inside, readers will find comprehensive information about the various pressings, including rare releases, limited editions, and essential discography details.Author Peter Barbato, a dedicated Frank Sinatra historian and collector, meticulously compiled this guide, drawing on his vast knowledge and expertise. Barbato released this limited-edition guide in 1985, in honor of Sinatra’s 50-year anniversary. In the forward, Barbato writes, “[w]hat I have tried to accomplish with this guide, is to give the collector an easy reference to past, forgotten, mostly unissued and alternate recordings, and a source in which they can be located.” The author further elaborates that, “[e]very recording, aircheck, concert, etc. listed in this guide was chosen through my own personal knowledge, gained from many years of collecting, dealing, reading, and conversing with collectors all over the world.” Sinatra’s impact on music and pop culture is immeasurable, and this rare collector’s guide stands as a tribute to his enduring influence, perfect for those who wish to deepen their appreciation of the legendary entertainer's musical journey.Issued: c. 1985Dimensions: 8.5"HEdition: 112 of 500Country of Origin: United StatesCondition: Age related wear.

From 1806, he took five of his sons into partnership and the firm expanded adding buildings at Badevel and La Feschotte amongst others to become one of the largest makers of clocks in Europe. The business continued into the Twentieth century but during the inter-war period went into decline and is thought to have finally wound-up in around 1940. A detailed history of Japy Freres et Cie is provided in Allix, Charles and Bonnert, Peter CARRIAGE CLOCKS, Their history and development chapter VI pages 133-48. Japy personally examined his best clocks and graded them accordingly, the current lot was inspected and set at 'A1' the best possible.
