C. for the Company of Stationers, 1677, all titles and borders red-ruled (sometimes red & black) throughout volume, some spotting and toning (mainly towards front), marbled endpapers, front hinge and preliminary blank crudely strengthened at gutter, all edges gilt (rubbed), contemporary red morroco gilt, rubbed and worn, covers with cottage-roof design, inner black onlay panel with central quatrefoil orange onlay elaborately tooled with floral and seed head design, each 'cottage-roof' corner with a floral tool in black onlay, the overall design incorporating tulips, 3-petalled flowers, and fish-scales, some losses to onlays, 8vo (Qty: 1)NOTESThis work by an unknown binder bears some similarities to an example in the British Library database of fine bindings, shelfmark c65aa4.
Scratch built 1.5inch gauge electric model of the Stratford District Breakdown train 'Cowans Sheldon'; a well-made example including the J-15 steam locomotive no.65464, riding van, train unit tool van, Cowans Sheldon 75 ton steam breakdown crane, and Jib runner for crane, total length 180cm. The Cows Sheldon 75 Ton Steam Breakdown crane was to an order placed by the British Transport Commission in 1959 and built in 1961. Its Cowans Sheldon serial number was 78, and its was delivered to Straford Depot in Jan 1962 and allocated the number 96611. The Riding van was originally a Gresley Restaurant car of 1929 no.42969 and later 9007E. The tool can was originally a Gresley full passenger brake to diagram 43 of 1928 serial no.5437.
