Z3 BMW Roadster. 1997. Registration number P223 GVN. Pre-facelift 'narrow-body' version with leather interior, manual gearbox and the more economic 1.9 petrol engine. Mileage 237,000. Dating from April 1997 this earlier, narrow body pre-facelift Z3 Roadster presents in cosmic black with matching black Mohair soft-top and rides on its original alloy wheels. Under that shapely bonnet, we find the 1.9 litre M44B19 four-cylinder petrol engine which develops 138bhp and 180NM of torque, driving the rear wheels here, via a five-speed manual transmission giving ample performance for most with an impressive fuel economy. Theinterior has brown leather seats with electric seat base adjustment, Stainless steal anti roll hoops, light brown dash trim, power steering, ABS, electric windows, electric mirrors, digital clock, radio/CD player and manual hood mechanism which is in very good condition.Though the vehicle has covered high mileage it comes with a large folder of service history to evidence regular servicing and replacement of consumables, a new clutch was fitted not long before the car entered his classic car collection. The owner has a large classic car collection and decided to store the BMW Z3 n his collection some few years ago where it has remained on Sorn ever since, though as with all of his cars they are fired up regularly and driven up and down a private track. The body panels are in good rust-free condition and the interior is very tidy except for the passenger seat base which has a small separation of stitching between two leather panels. The vehicle still has its original BMW tool kit in its original tray and its original space saver tyre which appears to be unused.Due to age and health the elderly vendor has decided to dispose of his classic car collection to down size hence the vehicle is sold still on Sorn. Housed within this present reference is Calibre 240 Q, which was discontinued after over two decades of production. Calibre 240 Q can be found also in the ever popular Reference 3940 perpetual calendar, which was produced in much greater quantity than this rarer Reference 5040, hence increasing collectability of the latter. It is estimated that 450 examples were executed in rose gold thus making this example one of the rarer versions available. This example is a 2nd Series piece as denoted by the movement number starting 312xxxx.This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Rolex. A rare stainless steel Military automatic wristwatch issued to the Royal NavyModel: Military SubmarinerReference: 5513/5517Date: Circa 1975Movement: 26-jewel Cal.1520 automaticDial: Black, Tritium T, luminous dot hour markers, baton quarters, white outer minute divisions, polished sword hands with luminous inserts, centre secondsCase: Brushed and polished tonneau form, screw down back engraved 0552/923-7697 691/77, fixed bars, shouldered screw down crown, lug engraved 5517, case middle No.3926879, inside case back similarly numbered, stamped 1.72Strap/Bracelet: Original fabric NATOBuckle/Clasp: BuckleSigned: Case, dial & movementSize: 38mmFootnotes:Rolex made the 'MilSub' as a direct order for the British Military through the Ministry of Defence. These were made with specific enhancements that set them apart from their civilian equivalent. The reference 5513 was the first of these to be customised for Military use by making the spring bars solid and friction welded into place negating the possibility of the spring bar being pulled out. As such all Military Submariners have NATO straps as the more normal straps or bracelets cannot be fitted to the solid lugs. The hands were replaced with the aptly named Sword hands to enhance legibility with Tritium luminosity signified by the T in a circle on the dial. The case backs are engraved on the interior with the serial number and also on the outside case back with the Ministry of Defence issue number. The military numbers on the back of this particular watch refer to it being issued in 1977.There are 3 series of the Royal Navy Military Submariner:1.Standard Ref:55132.Double Ref:5513/5517 (5513 on case and back; 5517 on a lug) as with the present lot3.Unique Ref:5517As these watches were 'tool watches' in the truest sense of the word, they were often repaired with service parts and in many cases heavily damaged during their years of use. The current lot is a prime example of this with its lack of bezel which the current owner, a professional diver, recalls losing on a dive in the 1990s. The current owner is the second person to own this watch having purchased it from the original Navy diver in the early 1980s.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
