Two Minton handpainted cups and saucers, mid 19th century, hand painted with floral sprays one beneath an apple green border with gilt decorations with moulded rim heightened with gilding pattern 549, the other with floral sprays beneath gilt c scrolls and trellis on a turquoise ground with moulded gilt rim, pattern number 5028, 14.8 cm and 14.3 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: The turquoise ground saucer and matching cup is in good decorative order throughout with no obvious signs of cracks, chips or restoration. There are two pin head sized surface to the turquoise border to the interior of the cup, it rings out when lightly tapped. The green ground cup has numerous pin head sized scratches to the interior green border. The gilt handle is 40% worn. There are small spots of gilt rubbing on the rim. The teacup is structurally sound with no obvious visible chips, cracks or restorations and rings out nicely when lightly tapped. Its matching saucer has rubbing on the high moulded points on the interior and also on the interior gilding. The rim gilding is in good decorative order. There are no obvious visible signs of chips, cracks or restorations. The saucer rings our nicely when lightly tapped.
An extensive Royal Doulton "Sonnet" pattern tea and dinner service, 20th century, comprising 11 dinner plates, 17 desert place, 10 side plates, 8 cereal bowls, 2 round tureens, 2 oval tureens with covers, large meat plate, gravy boat and stand, 6 tea cups and 6 saucers, milk jug, cream jug, sucrier and teapot.
An Minton porcelain tea cup and coffee cup with matching saucers, early to mid 19th century, painted with hand painted floral vignettes within gilt sea scrolls between cream ground crown motifs on a light green ground with moulded rim heightened with gilding, pattern 1941, saucers 14.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The coffee cup is in good with no visible obvious faults, it rings out nicely when lightly tapped. The teacup has very light rubbing to the gilding on the handle. There is a small patch of very fine scratch marks to the interior of the cup just located outside the centre cartouche. There is further lighter surface scratch marks around the green bordering the rim. The gilding on the rim has very light rubbing, the teacup rings out nicely when lightly tapped. Both saucers have very light surface scratches to the green ground but are not overly detrimental. The gilding to the base of each vignette is lightly rubbed. The rim on one saucer is rather rubbed with only 25% of the gilding remaining intact, the centre enamel decoration to this saucer is lightly scratched. The saucer with the excessive gilt rubbing rings out nicely when tapped, the other saucer has a very fine rim to foot rim hairline crack.
A pair of Minton porcelain trios, mid 19th century, each interior with hand painted floral vignettes and framed by gilt scrolls and leaves against an apple green border with moulded rim heightened with gilding, pattern 614, saucers 14.5 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: One coffee cup has had its handle re-attached with glue. Other than that they are both in good order with no cracks or chips to the body. The enamel decoration appears to be in good order on both and the gilding to the rims has the very slightest of rubbing. The cup with the broken handle has 10% of the gilding rubbed. Both teacups are in very good order and ring out nicely when tapped. One handle has a small patch of gilding missing to its underside, while the other handle has about 20% of the gilding rubbed off throughout. Both rim gilding is in good order. The enamel vignettes are all in good order. Both cups have slight rubbing to the gilding to the interior centre. Both saucers appear to be sound in body with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The green ground to the interior has lots of tiny surface scratches, one more notable than the other. The gilding to the centre on each is rubbed but still intact. The gilding around the border of the centre on both is rubbed and marked. The gilding on each rim is very lightly rubbed. Both saucers ring out nicely when lightly tapped.
A Shelley "Dainty" pattern tea set and fruit set, early 20th century, the shaped cups with moulded floral handles with yellow flowers, comprising 6 cups, 6 saucers and side plates, teapot, sugar bowl, cream jug, sandwich plate, summer fruits bowl and 6 small bowls, each with printed mark and inscribed pattern number 11993/9. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small chip to the underside of the teapot spout rim, otherwise the teapot appears to be in good order. At first viewing the sugar bowl looks to be in good order, however there is a fine 5 cm hairline crack issuing from a tiny nibble on the rim. There are a further three fine hairline cracks around the base of the rim but these are almost invisible to the naked eye and can only be seen when using a high powered light. The cream bowl appears to be in good order throughout with no obvious faults. Three of the teacups are in good order with no obvious faults. A further teacup appears to be in sound order and rings out nicely, but when using a high powered flash light circumferal fractures do appear around the foot rim. One cup has a rim to foot rim inverted Y shape crack with one branch of the crack having a small chip. Another cup has a 3 cm hairline crack issuing from the rim. All handles are in good order. All saucers are free of any obvious chips, cracks or restorations and all ring out nicely when tapped. All six sandwich plates appear to be free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations, four have very minor surface marks, all ring out nicely when tapped. The sandwich plate is in good order throughout with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations and rings out nicely when tapped. There are three or four small surface spots to the centre. One cereal bowl has a three quarter length stress crack running through it and a further chip to the underside of the rim. A further bowl has a fine hairline crack issuing from a corner of the rim running 6 cm towards the foot rim. One bowl has a small chip to the underside of the rim but still rings out nicely when tapped. The large fruit bowl is in good order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. There are however a few very small scratch marks to the green interior body. The bowl rings out nicely when tapped.
