An English porcelain part tea and coffee service, mid 19th century, with handpainted vignettes against a cream ground and light sage green border, heightened with gilding throughout, Pattern No. 2/5720, comprising 2 sandwich plates, slop bowl, 8 saucers, 7 tea cups and 3 coffee cups. CONDITION REPORT: Of the seven teacups, five are in good order with only very light gilt rubbing to the rims and handles. A further teacup has a 4 cm hairline crack issuing from the rim towards the base of the cup. A further teacup has two very fine 1 cm long hairline cracks. The interior decoration on all the cups appears to be good. All three coffee cups appear to be in good order with light gilt rubbing to the handles. One coffee cup has the gilt geometric banding on the exterior 95% erased. The enamels and decoration on the interior of each coffee can appears to be good. All eight saucers appears to be free from any chips, cracks or restorations. All have issues with gilt rubbing to the centre and also to the rims. Five of the saucers are slightly faded in colour. The slop bowl is in good order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. There is only light gilt rubbing to the rim. Both sandwich plates are free from any chips, cracks or restorations. Both have surface scratches and erasing to the gilt decoration particularly around the centre. The enamels are slightly muted but still intact. All plates and bowls ring out nicely when lightly tapped.
A English porcelain part tea and coffee service, circa 1870, with printed and handpainted floral spray decoration, with beige border heightened with gilding, Pattern No. 9106, comprising two sandwich plates, dessert plate, 11 saucers, 11 tea cups, 8 coffee cups, a sucrier and 2 covers, slop bowl and milk jug, inscribed Pattern No. 2/9106 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Of the eight coffee cups, one has a large L shape crack running from the rim to the base of the bowl, another cup has a small exterior rim chip. Six coffee cups are in good order, all gilding and decorations are good on the interior. There is very light rubbing to some cups on the gilding decorating the exterior of the bowl. Of the eleven teacups, eight are in good order with no obvious faults. One teacup although in good order with no obvious faults does have some kiln dirt in the interior centre of the bowl but no further post production faults. A further teacup has a 1 cm firing crack which is glazed on the rim. A further teacup has a hairline crack running across one strand of the handle. Gilding and enamels are all good. The milk jug is in good order with no obvious faults. The sucrier at first look appears to be in good order, however under close inspection there is a very fine hairline crack approximately 1.5 cm in length on the rim just above the handle, however, this does not seem to have increased in length for some time and has some very light brown staining, otherwise there are no further faults. The spare lid is in good order with no obvious faults. The sugar bowl has become detached from its pedestal at some point and has been glued back on, but no further cracks, chips etc. All saucers appear to be in good order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations, there is however some very light gilt rubbing to the rims but not on all. The sandwich plate and single plates are in good order with no obvious faults. No obvious crazing evident. The floral decoration has a printed outline then the petals are hand painted in enamels.
A Villeroy & Boch "Acapulco" part dinner and tea service, comprising three dinner plates, two salad plates, two dessert plates, four side plates, five mugs, four large saucers, one small saucer, small cream jug, milk jug, condiment set, sauce pan etc (40). CONDITION REPORT: The 15 cm kettle stand has a 2 mm section of outline missing on the right hand bird. One dinner plate has a small fingernail size rim chip. Other than these two faults all other items appear to be in good order with no obvious chips, cracks, losses or restorations.
Nine Chinese tea bowls, late 18th century, one with matching saucer, each handpainted in a variety of polychrome enamel flowers, some heightened with gilding, a Chinese Famille Rose "Wu Shuang Pu" container and cover, 19th century, and a Japanese Kutani tea cup and saucer, decorated with numerous immortals. Tallest 7 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The blue and white bowl is in good order with no obvious faults. All other bowls and saucers have either large firing cracks or rim chips. The container and cover has numerous rim chips to the lid and the decoration is faded on the main body.
