A CHINESE STONEWARE CIZHOU STORAGE VESSEL, MING DYNASTY, 1368 – 1644 the ovoid body rising to a short narrow neck with dark brown rolled lip, the deep ivory-glazed body painted in dark brown slip with floral scrolls and calligraphy between wavy bands, the shoulder with numerous spur marks, the based embossed with a single character, age wear, discolouration, age crack and chipping 50,4cm high PROVENANCE Acquired from Global Heritage, Cape Town, 2002
A Chinese silk robe, Qing Dynasty, late 19th century, intricately embroidered with coloured silks and gold and metal threads depicting court scenes in vignettes, with flowers, bats and butterflies to the blue silk ground, with calligraphy to each of the ivory silk sleeve bands, amongst scenes of mountains, forest and pagodas, with black border to the edges, embroidered with metal thread, detailing flowers within repeated scrolling design, black detail to the yoke, side splits to the base of the robe and with a fushia silk lining, 177 by 110cm.

Y A Chinese painted gold-ground fan, depicting the West Lake in Hangzhou, late Qing Dynasty, by the Shu Lain Ji workshop, the gold paper painted with named scenes on the lake, the reverse with extensive calligraphy, red paper maker's label, ivory guards and sticks, closed 21.5cm high and open 34cm wide The fan was made by Shu Lian Ji, a renowned fan crafting workshop established in Hangzhou in the mid-Qing dynasty. A CHINESE SILVER INLAID 'SHI SOU' BRONZE BITONG 17TH/18TH CENTURY The cylindrical body with a flared rim and foot inlaid in silver wire with bamboo and calligraphy with a poem, with a two character mark to the base, 9cm, 265g. Provenance: from the collection of Professor Peter H Plesch and Mrs Traudi Plesch OBE and thence by descent, collection no.Bv9, purchased from Spink & Son Ltd in December 1966 for £25, exhibited at the OCS exhibition in 1979. THREE CHINESE INSCRIBED PEWTER-ENCASED YIXING TEAPOTS AND COVERS AND A TEA CANISTER AND COVER QING DYNASTY Each teapot set with a jade spout and handle, two with jade knops, all with ribbed exteriors inscribed with poems, two with seals to the interiors, the canister incised with calligraphy to one side and a bamboo spray to the reverse, with two seals impressed to the base, 16.5cm. ATTRIBUTED TO DONG QI CHANG (QING DYNASTY) DU FU'S POEMS IN RUNNING SCRIPT A Chinese album of calligraphy, ink on silk, title-slip by You He and dated autumn of the xin mao year with one illegible seal, inscribed and signed Dong Qi Chang, with three artist's seals, and one collector's seal which reads gu ren you huan wang shi jian shang shu hua, together with a letter signed Jiang Zhao Rong and dated the 18th year of Republic Period (1929) with three seals of Jiang, mounted album of nine double leaves, 24.5cm x 24.5cm.
ANONYMOUS (REPUBLIC PERIOD) DIAMOND SUTRA IN RUNNING SCRIPT A Chinese handscroll of calligraphy, ink on paper, title-slip by Zong Hai and dated the tenth month of gui chou year with one illegible seal. Four collectors' seals of Jin Shao Tang family (a wealthy family during the Republic period), 117cm x 26cm. Provenance: brought back from China by Sir Thomas Octavius Callender who was the Managing Director of British Insulated Callender's Cables. The company had a large contract in Shanghai in the early 1900s.
A CHINESE HARDWOOD AND DREAMSTONE LOW TABLE LATE QING DYNASTY The rectangular top set with three dreamstone panels, each inscribed with calligraphy, the apron and ends carved with formal scrolls, all raised on four straight legs, 49cm x 135cm x 46cm. Provenance: the Benveniste collection, Montreal, purchased in the 1960s and '70s.

A MAMLUK-STYLE GILDED AND ENAMELLED GLASS MOSQUE LAMP 18TH/19TH CENTURY With a tapering neck decorated with blue calligraphy on a gold ground and roundels containing verses from the Quran, the body with six loop handles and calligraphic verses in gold on a blue ground and with geometric and floral bands in gold, blue, red, white and green, 33cm. Provenance: Warrens House, Bramshaw, the New Forest.

A PAIR OF BLUE & WHITE BOWLS CHENGHUA SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE , KANGXI PERIOD (1662 - 1722 ) KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITH A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD ( 1662 - 1722 Each bowl is well painted with a continuous scene of a gathering of the Eighteen Scholars of the Tang dynasty shown at various pursuits including playing the qin, playing weiqi, discussing philosophy and books, composing poems, writing calligraphy , all in rocky landscapes with pine and willow, the interiors with a circular medallion enclosing a penzai pine tree in a hexagonal jardinière within a lotus shaped medallion, the inner rim with a band of four panels, enclosing fruiting branches of pomegranate, peach, finger-citron and plum reserved on a diaper ground.From a Belgian private collection 20.3 cm.
