Qi Baishi (1864-1957), a Kingfisher, watercolour, the bird perched on the stalk of a lotus seed pot, 27 x 16cm (10.5 x 6.25 in), together with 'HMS', a bicycle rickshaw leaving a market, watercolour, 17 x 14.5cm (6.75 x 5.75 in) within gilt frames (2) Bought in Hong Kong in 1983 anticipating the vendor's marriage. The kingfisher has historical connections with Chinese weddings. The calligraphy reads 'feather can be picked'.
A Chinese porcelain 'butterfly' bowl: the exterior enamelled in the famille rose palette with numerous butterflies amongst flowers, foliage and fruit, the interior enamelled with a single butterfly and blooms within three bands of iron red calligraphy and an underglaze blue band, blue seal mark to base, 22 cm diameter, [staple repairs].

A 19TH CENTURY AUSTRIAN HEAVY CAVALRY SWORD WITH DAMASCUS BLADE, 81cm sharply curved blade etched with a small panel of calligraphy and scrolling foliage about the forte, all highlighted in gilt, further struck with a maker's mark at the forte, regulation steel hilt, ribbed leather covered wooden grip.

Typical, downwardly curved blade with reinforced back, both faces with silver-inlaid ornaments and inscriptions in Arabic calligraphy; also typical, silver-alloy “eared†grip (traces of gilding), set with corals (losses) and filigree ornaments, prolonging to the ricasso, with the mouth of the original scabbard made of silver, the upper part with filigree ornaments, still retaining one of the formerly set corals, the with an embossed pattern of foliage and flowers. Rev James A Slimmon (1859 Whithorn - 1948 Glasgow) The following lot belonged to the missionary James Slimmon He was with The Canadian Presbyterian Mission in Hwasking Fu, North East Province of Hunan, China. With The Boxer Uprising in 1901 he fled with his young family and later returned to continue his work The lot comprises; Four photographs of The Rev Slimmon in traditional Chinese costume as a young man and later in 1923 His robes for all seasons are silk woven and with accessories including hard stone bead necklaces, bead work costume, two watercolour scrolls, eleven rattan scrolls, five pairs of children's shoes, silk panel with calligraphy, fur hat, two dolls, three silk printed panels, silk embroidered dragon cover and silk fragments
