*Leicestershire - George III. Attractive vellum Recovery document, dated Michaelmas Term [6th to the 28th November], made in the twenty-second year of George III [1781] , of Cornelius Hill's demands against Richard Broom for lands in Billesdon, etc., written in ornate calligraphy, large portrait of the King in initial letter [young portrait] and with decorative engraved top and side margins, complete with an appended large unbroken Royal wax seal, in original metal skippet, small tear at fold with no loss to vellum or text (1)
C18th / C19th Chinese porcelain miniature rectangular censer & cover with gilt temple lion finial, painted in polychrome with landscapes alternating with panels of calligraphy, probably Qianlong, apparently formerly in the Kitchener Collection (no. 144), chip to one ear of lion finial & re-stuck, tiny glaze flake to underside of one foot, 3.5ins. (9cms.) high.
A Chinese circular dish finely painted with a cricket clambering over leaves and fruit and with a panel of calligraphy the reverse with a four character hall mark 20th century 12.8cm. In a fitted hardwood case. The poem translates as: The setting sun makes the red persimmons shine in the garden In the early winter upon the dilapidated fences flourishing green flowers branch out.
A Chinese blue and white bottle vase painted with four figures beside a river and rockwork the reverse with two columns of calligraphy the base with a four character hallmark and a blue and white goblet painted with landscape panels. Both with damage and good restoration. Both Kangxi 1662-1722 21cm. (2)
Islamic Coins Seljuq of Rum ‘Izz al-din Kayka’us II second reign (655-658h) Dinar without mintname or date obv: al-sultan al-a‘zam / ‘izz al-dunya wa’l-din / kayka’us bin kaykhusraw rev: al-imam a / l-musta‘sim billah / amir al-mu’minin 4.20g. With superb naskhi calligraphy extremely fine and apparently unpublished. The cataloguer suggests that this coin was probably a donative issue struck to mark the beginning of the second sole reign of ‘Izz al-din Kayka’us II in 655h at the time when he received the patent of investiture from the Abbasid caliph al-Musta’sim.
