Two Chinese hardstone square seals, flecked in green and white, the tops carved with chilong and key-fret design and one seal with the signs of the zodiac and the other carved as nine calligraphy squares, each 7.5cm x 7.5cm Provenance: Collected in the 1930's by Lieutenant-Commander Ninian Scott-Elliot, 1911-1998 and by descent. After an education at Eton, Scott-Elliot joined the Royal Navy and was soon serving on gunboats patrolling the Upper Yangtze River. He won a distinguished Service Cross as well as being mentioned in Dispatches when serving in the Royal Navy in the Second World War. Subsequently he settled on an island in the Solomon group where he developed a large estate and behaved like a benevolent nineteenth-century laird.
A good Chinese internally-decorated clear glass snuff bottle , circa 1967, painted on one side with a harbour scene and rice fields in the distance depicting a landscape in Changshu, Jiangsu Province , and the reverse with two panels, one with boats and trees and one with three characters, the larger picture with calligraphy and red mark indicating the snuff bottle was made by Wang Hongquan on March 4, 1967 , the sides carved with mask handles, overall height with hardstone stopper, 6.3cm Provenance: Property of a Lady, purchased in the 1970's.

A Chinese scroll painting by Fang Yuejuan , Qing Dynasty, Gathering in the Orchid Pavilion , ink and colour on silk, signed and inscribed, approximately 192cm x 41.5cm The scene depicts the Gathering in the Orchid Pavilion (Lanting), which was then documented by Wang Xizhi in his renowned calligraphy work Lantingji Xu: A Spring Purification Ceremony was held at Lanting, Kuaiji Prefecture where Wang Xizhi was appointed as the governor at the time. During the event, many literati gathered along the banks of a coursing stream and engaged in a drinking contest - cups of wine were drifting down from the upstream, and whenever a cup stopped in front of a guest, he had to compose a poem or otherwise drink the wine. A MASSIVE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE INSCRIBED INCENSE BURNER MID 17TH CENTURY The body decorated with a pair of confronting dragons chasing a sacred pearl amongst clouds above waves and stylised rocks, with a panel of calligraphy to one side, the neck with a band of cranes in flight and clouds and a band of ruyi-heads to the rim, three rectangular holes to the foot and two to the shoulder for attaching handles and feet to the body, together with a wood stand, 46cm.
