A Japanese Mixed Metals Writing/Calligraphy Box, Meiji period, of rounded rectangular form, the hinged caddy top worked with various foliate mons within scroll borders on a lattice ground23cm wide, later converted to a jewellery boxConverted with a long hinge added to the reverse. Poorly fitted inside. Fitting could be removed and cleaned. The hinge has been screwed in place so would leave holes. Slight warping to the top but closes well. Large dent to the rim of one of the roundels on top. General wear.
