The collection of the late William Gronow Davis MFH. Sokuhi Nyoitsu (Chi-fei Ju-i) was and Obaku Zen Buddhist monk-priest who originated in China but migrated to Japan and became abbot of the Sofukuji Temple. He was an accomplished poet and calligrapher. His teachers Ingen Ryuki, Mokuan Shoto and Sokuhi were known as the "Three Brushes of Obaku".
