A Martin Brothers stoneware vase incised with perennial sunflower sprays in shades of white blue and green on a brown ground 3-1889 R.W.Martin & Bros London & Southall light firing cracks to base 22cm. high. Malcolm Haslam The Martin Brothers Potters Richard Dennis Publications illustrates a botanical watercolour drawing by W E Willy dated 1889. Walter Edward Willy joined the Martin Brothers at their Pomona House works and stayed with them until 1899 when his eyesight began to fail.

A collection of Royal Copenhagen 'Flora Danica' tableware modern painted in the centre with a flowering botanical specimen within characteristic pink and gilt borders on the serrated rim, the botanical identification in black to the bases, comprising: a double-handled bowl, (21.5cm., 8.5;in. ) two small dishes with branch-handles (22cm., 8.75;in.), large oval dish. (33.5cm., 13.5;in.),a two large oval serving plates, (44.5cm., 17.5;in.) and two small oval side dishes (25.5cm., 10.25;in.) blue waves in underglaze-blue and green Royal Copenhagen mark, painters numbers 20/3516, 20/3533, 20/3535, 20/3524, 20/3534,20/3540, 20/3519 encrusted flowers on one of the small dishes slightly chipped, one small chip on one of the serrations of a large oval dish (10) The Flora Danica service was made on commission for Crown Prince Frederic (later Frederic VI) and presented to Catherine II. Empress of Russia. It took twelve years to complete, greatly under the influence of botanist and director of the factory Theodor lmskjold. His academic background led to a very contemporary synthesis of artistic and scientific interest.
