German Lloyd liner); then Shanghai, Hankow (etc.) - good riverboat descriptions, then extraordinary 14 day chair journey Wanhsien to Paoning; botanical & medical observations, as well as descriptions of various mission stations visited & personnel met (CMS. & China Inland Mission); Japan included Nagasaki, Kobe, Tokyo, Yokohama & Kyoto, also Korea; returning to Pekin, followed by the 10 day Trans-Siberian rail journey to Moscow. Altogether a carefully compiled & valuable account; ownership note at front - 'HW's (i.e. author's) Copy'; appears to be unpublished. Illustrated

The muntins & stiles with zig-zagged punchwork running down the channel moulding. The interior fitted with a lidded candle box. 24 ins (61 cms) high, 51 ins (130 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep.*
