A kogatana, the kozuka decorated with gold and shakudo with a botanical motif to a seeded ground, the gilt reverse with decorative scratches, the blade marked with characters; another kogatana, the kozuka set with an inro and pouch united by a fine gilt cord set with coloured stone beads, the blade marked with characters; and a kogai, the handle with a panel inhabited by two gilt highlighted heron in marshland to a seeded ground, signature to the reverse. Mosley (Seth Lister) Wild flowers 90 postcard size portraits of British wild flowers printed in colours in Mosley`s usual style captions party ms. and partly printed mounted in a leather album oblong 8vo [Huddersfield] [c.1920]. ***The work of SL Mosley 1848-1929 is not well documented. A recent pamphlet Seth Lister Mosley by Dorothy Harding Huddersfield 1986 does not mention his botanical work. Inserted in the album is correspondence between Peter Goodfellow and the Huddersfield Library which includes a list of Mosley`s works. This mentions Flowers among the Sheets of hand-coloured paintings and a partial Fauna and flora of the Colne and Home drainage includes a checklist of plants but no illustrations..

A collection of 18th century Meissen cups and saucers, each with botanical sprays and rococo gilt, orange ground borders, the cups with entwined handles. Blue crossed swords and dot mark. Comprising:- 9 cups in two sizes, a tenth cup, damaged, and 14 saucers; together with a matching oval teapot stand. (See illustration)

* Brown (Henry Harris, RP, 1864-1948). A sketchbook of pencil drawings, pp.70, containing mainly figure studies, botanical drawings, and animal studies, some initialled, some dust-soiling, leaf size 17.8 x 25.4cm (7 x 10ins), pencilled signature of H. Harris Brown on front pastedown, stitching partially broken, orig. qtr. roan, extrems. worn and spine missing, oblong 8vo. Henry Harris Brown was a portrait painter who studied art in Paris under Bouguereau and Tony Fleury. He painted many portraits in America and Canada. Brown exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1888 and also at the Paris Salon, and he is represented in a number of public collections. (1)
