A mid 19th century Minton botanical dessert service each decorated with scalloped edge, turquoise and gilt ribbon painted and jewelled border, the well painted with a botanical specimen, comprising: a high comport; a medium comport; four low comports; and eighteen plates, impressed diamond registration mark and impressed horseshoe mark for 1853 (24)
A Rockingham tea service, decorated in pattern number 1461 with a different botanical painting on each piece. Some damages. c.1838-42. Comprising: teapot and cover, sugar bowl and cover, milk jug, large bowl, cake plate, thirteen plates, eleven teacups, ten coffee cups and nine saucers, printed marks to some pieces. (50) Cf. A good Derby botanical part dinner service, each piece finely painted in coloured enamels with floral botanical specimens within gilt borders, titled in blue enamel and with crowned crossed batons above 'D' and pattern number 197, c.1810, 36.5cm. max. Comprising: two oval tureens and covers, a large dish, eleven soup bowls and nine plates. (25) Cf. J. Twitchett, Derby Porcelain 1748-1848, colour plate 181 for a similar example.
A 19th century jug transfer printed with flowers and marked "Edward Jones 1841" in gilt lettering, height 23cm, a smaller Davenport jug with botanical decoration, height 18cm and another similar painted with flowers, height 17cm also a Sunderland lustre jug, height 17cm, hand painted loving cup commemorating the birth of Frances Topping, March 4th 1822 and one other item (6)
Lanta Spurrier c1910-c1980- "Elecampane"; oil on canvas, signed, bears inscribed label attached to the reverse, 76x50.7cm: together with one other botanical study in oils on board by the same hand, titled "Onopordon", signed, 121x43cm., (2). Note: Lanta Spurrier studied art in London and ran classes in her Chelsea studio while working as a freelance commercial artist. Had a long association with Fisons, contributing to the annual show of flower painting at their premises in Wigmore Street, London. Lived at Leigh near Reigate from the late 1930's.
