Totem BR(W) HF BRECON from the former Neath & Brecon/Brecon & Merthyr station in central Wales, opened 1867 provided access to the Brecon and Merthyr, the Mid Wales, and the Hereford, Hay and Brecon Railways which were all completed about this time. A complex yet quite fascinating history. Closed in Oct 1962 to passengers. In very good displayable condition with some expertly executed restoration. Not a common and last at auction ten years ago.

BR(M) advertising mirror LONDON MIDLAND MAIN LINES & CONNECTING LINES. Shows a map of the lines out of Euston, St Pancras and Marylebone all the way up to Carlisle. Thick bevelled mirror glass measuring 11in x 6in. In excellent condition with a minor chip bottom right hand corner.
Great Western Railway Hotels silverplate teapot with the GWR roundel coat of arms base marked Elkington plate, together with a coffee pot marked with the GWR twin shield coat of arms and base marked Walker & Hall Sheffield and a circular tray with the GWR twin shield coat of arms and base marked Elkington plate and date stamped 1948, tray measures 12in diameter. All are in excellent condition. 3 Items.
A Wise's patent staff with integral locked metal tickets dating from 1880 measuring 14in long. Used to demonstrate the principle of the patent (No.1030 of 1896) the staff is engraved A to B and B to A. The key for one set of tickets is present, as are two metal tickets at one end and three at the other. The back of the staff is engraved with the words 'Wises Patent' and 'McKenzie & Holland Worcester England'. Berkeley Deane Wise (1853 - 1909) held various railway and architect roles including the Chief Engineer of the Belfast & Northern Counties Railway. Raynar Wilson's book Railway Signalling includes a drawing and description of the staff. A second such staff is known to be housed at the National Railway Museum in York.
Totem BR(NE) FF CLECKHEATON CENTRAL, with black edged letters, from the former London North Western and Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Joint station between Bradford and Mirfield. In excellent condition with some minor loss to the black edges on some of the letters. NOTE This is one of the fully flanged totems with the wide flange all around.
Worksplate PECKETT & SONS LTD BRISTOL No 2026 1942 ex Oil fired W7 0-4-0 ST built to standard gauge and supplied new to the Royal Ordnance Factory Drigg Cumberland and later moved to Shanks & McEwan Ltd, Corby Steelworks. Oval engraved brass face polished, measures 15.25in x 8.5in.
Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company free Ticket issued to James Smithells. Front marked with company name the rear is marked Free Ticket Not Transferable. In very good condition measures 1.25in diameter. James Smithells was the General manager of the Caledonian Railway company having previously been employed as traffic manager of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
London & South Western Railway silver free pass issued to J. Smithills Esq Caledonian Ry. Front marked with company name and full Coat Of Arms. The rear is marked L&SWR Free Pass No 217. In very good condition measures 1 in diameter. James Smithells (correct spelling) was the General manager of the Caledonian Railway company having previously been employed as traffic manager of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
Caledonian and London & North Western Railway free special pass No 56 issued for 1881. One side is marked with Caledonian Railway the other London and North Western Railway. Gold embossed leather in very good condition measures 2in x 2in. Probably issued to James Smithells who was the General manager of the Caledonian Railway company as this pass came with the other two listed in this auction.
Great Western Railway Hotels silverplate bread basket with the GWR roundel coat of arms measures 12.5in long x 4in tall, together with a pair of Cake / Bread Tongs with the GWR twin shield coat of arms and measures 9in long. Both are in excellent condition and marked Walker & Hall Sheffield. 2 Items.
GWR brass cabside numberplate 4253 ex Churchward 2-8-0 T built at Swindon in 1917. Allocated to 86B Newport Pill and withdrawn from there in March 1963. Face restored with clear boiler markings in the rim. The locomotive is currently under restoration at the Kent & East Sussex Railway.
A McKenzie & Holland (Australia) miniature electric staff from Queensland, Australia dating from 1921 engraved with the names Gympie and Monkland and the number 46. The staff is mounted on a wooden display stand which carries a brass plaque recording that this was the last staff to be carried between the two stations on 17th March 1983 before the introduction of Computerised signalling.
Worksplate LMS BUILT 1895 HORWICH ex Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Aspinall 3F 0-6-0 originally numbered LYR 478, LMS 12311 and BR 52311. Allocated to Mirfield, Lower Darwin and 27B Aintree from where it was withdrawn in March 1962 and scrapped at Horwich Works. Oval cast brass, face restored, rear has 52311 chalked on. Measures 10.5in x 6in.
LMS Presentation Shield THE SIR THOMAS WILLIAMS CHALLENGE SHIELD with a silver plate at the bottom 1952 THIS TROPHY BECAME THE CHALLENGE SHIELD FOR THE LONDON MIDLAND REGION LONDON DISTRICT AMBULANCE COMPETITION (DIVISION 1). Previous winners are shown on hallmarked silver discs which include St Pancras, Camden, Willesden, BRB Headquarters, Bedford and the last winner in 1993 Melton House. Sir Thomas Williams was a director of the London & North Western Railway. Measures 36in x 29in and is in very good condition.

Worked at several industrial locations including Inco Europe, Clydach, Flixborough Wharf, Allied Steel & Wire Cardiff Docks, Hayes Chemicals Sandbach, the Channel Tunnel and for GNER at Craigentinny Depot. Cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39in x 13.75in.
