A George III mahogany standing corner cabinet with moulded cornice, fitted three shaped shelves enclosed by pair of astragal glazed doors, a cupboard below fitted centre shelf & enclosed by pair of fielded panel doors, on large bracket feet, 46¼” wide x 81½” high x 25” deep.
A MID-19TH century TEAK & BRASS-MOUNTED CAMPAIGN CHEST, fitted central secretaire drawer inset gilt-tooled writing surface & with various compartments, a short drawer either side & three long drawers below, all with recessed brass handles; 39” wide x 38” high x 18¾” deep. (in two sections, lacking escutcheon & one turned knob handle to secretaire drawer; lacking feet).
An 18th century oak bureau-bookcase, the upper part with moulded cornice, fitted two adjustable shelves enclosed by pair of fielded panel doors above two pull-out candle stands, the base having fitted interior enclosed by sloping fall-front, two short & three long graduated drawers below, all with shaped brass swan-neck handles & escutcheons, on ogee bracket feet; 38” wide x 80” high x 23¼” deep.
An 18th century figured walnut & herringbone crossbanded bureau, fitted numerous small drawers, pigeon-holes, & well compartment enclosed by sloping fall-front with hear-shaped escutcheon, four short & two long drawers below, on bracket feet; 32” wide x 38¼” high x 20” deep.
A 17th century WELSH JOINED OAK WAINSCOTE CHAIR with shaped & pierced top-rail, panelled back, shaped open arms & hard seat on turned legs joined by plain stretchers; bears label “CADAIR, EDWARD MORRIS, Y BARDD, PERTHI LLWYDION, A. D. 1620-1689”. Provenance: By family tradition, this is known as “the bards chair” & originally belonged to Edward Morris (1607-89) of Perthi Llwydion, Cerrig-y-drudion, Denbighshire, Wales, thence by descent remaining in the same family to the present day. (Edward Morris resided at this address from 1620-89).
A mid-18th century MAHOGANY CHEST-ON-STAND, the upper part with moulded cornice above three short & three long graduated drawers with original brass swing handles & shaped escutcheons, the stand fitted three further short drawers above a shaped apron, & on slender cabriole legs with pointed toes; 43” wide x 65¾” high x 24” deep. (Some attention required to left side of base – moulding missing).
A pair of late Victorian silver small thistle-shaped salt cellars & spoons, Birmingham 1897, by John Millward banks, in fitted case; a pair of Britannia standard baluster pepper pots, 3¾” high, London 1934, by C. F. Hancock & Co. (4 oz); another small pepper pot; & a pair of oval salt cellars with blue glass liners, Birmingham 1922, by Mappin & Webb.
An Empire-style burr-maple veneered & gilt metal mounted console pier glass, the arcaded tall back with eagle finial & flanked by faux-marble pilasters, inset two bevelled mirror plates, the table base with rectangular marble top, fitted frieze drawer, on square tapered figural supports & shaped plinth base; 41” wide x 93½” high x 19” deep.
