Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway pre grouping nickel cased pocket watch with a English lever movement signed Skarratt Worcester, key wound and key set. The dial has a small chip repair at the 6 o'clock position and minor hairline crack. The rear of the case is machine engraved S&D.J.R 30 crossed out and re engraved GW 806, barely visible is the original hand engraving SDJR 30. In working condition complete with key.
London Brighton and South Coast Railway silver cased pocket watch with American Waltham Watch Co movement 17924972 which dates the movement to circa 1910, top wound and top set. The hall marked sterling.925 silver case has marks for Birmingham 1912 and is hand engraved inside LONDON BRIGHTON & SOUTH COAST RAILWAY 753. The dial is free from chips and hairline cracks. In good working condition. Rare to find a silver cased example.
Great Western Railway pre grouping nickel cased pocket watch with a English lever movement fully signed SKARRATT & CO WORCESTER, key wound and key set. The dial is free from chips and has one minor hairline in the minute ring between 10 and 11 o'clock. The rear of the case is machine engraved GWR 1079. In working condition complete with key.
Southern Railway 8 inch oak cased fusee railway clock with a rectangular plated wire driven English fusee movement, supplied to the Southern Railway in 1937 by Grimshaw, Baxter & Elliott at a cost of 3-8s-6d. The original dial displays SR 10214 and the case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn. The SR clock records show this clock as last in use at Wimbledon Park Carriage Sidings Office. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. A nice clock that has missed the subsequent BR(S) dial writing by John Walker.
Norfolk & Suffolk Joint Railway 16in dial teak cased railway clock with a cast brass bezel with the clock number 3653 scratched into the hinge. The rectangular plated chain driven English fusee movement has snailed plates with N&S stamped onto the backplate and are held together by turned screwed pillars, this would have been supplied to the N&S circa 1903 when the station opened. The original dial is lettered N&S JOINT LINE. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass lock ( key missing) The LNER clock records show the clock as being in use at Hopton On Sea station platform. The clock would have been taken out of service in 1970 when the station closed and was sold to the previous owner by British Railways Norwich. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. A truly important clock and the first one of these joint clocks to appear at auction in basically as removed condition. A copy of the clock record accompanies the lot.
London and South Western Railway 8 inch Mahogany cased drop dial fusee clock with a cast brass bezel supplied to the LSWR circa 1906 by J. Fox of Barnstaple at a cost of 2-10s-0d. The English fusee movement with rectangular plates held together by turned tapered pillars has been overhauled and the white enamel dial lettered L&SWR J.F. FOX LATE JNo GAYDON 188 BARNSTAPLE has been restored. The Mahogany case is in very good condition and features fine figured mahogany and is stamped in the back 188 SW. The Southern Railway clock records show that it was last in use at Winchester Booking Office. Complete and in working condition with pendulum and key but not checked for accuracy. A copy of the clock record accompanies the lot.
North British Railway 14in dial mahogany cased regulator railway wall clock. The rectangular plated movement has shaped shoulders, deadbeat escapement, Harrisons maintaining power, a gut line and a wooden pendulum rod with beat adjusters and a brass cased bob and weight and is in good clean condition. The dial which has been lightly restored displays the makers name JAs RITCHIE & SON ENDINBURGH 12730 who were one of the main suppliers of clocks to the North British Railway Company. The mahogany case with glazed front door is in nicely restored condition and stands 60in tall on the back of the case is a BR label dated 10/06/87 sending the clock from Aberdeen to Collectors Corner Euston for sale, so we can assume that the clock was possibly in use at Aberdeen. A superb example In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum, key and weight. Note there is an identical clock to this one now on display at the Strathspey Railway Boat of Garten station.
