A 20th Century Royal Irish Regiment military drum belt sash. The sash of red leather construction faced with black cloth and edged with gold and scarlet trim. Gold bullion embroidered Royal cipher, Queens crown and ' The Royal Irish Regiment ' between two silver mounted miniature drum sticks.
Masonic interest: a brown leather suitcase containing a Toye Kenning & Spencer hooded cloak with Great Priory badge; together with a gown bearing purple cross; black and white ribbon sash; hat, belt, gloves; purple gown bearing white Maltese cross; a further black and white hooded cape; medal and ribbon; ceremonial sword, and various paperwork etc

Other very similar miniatures by Alexander Cooper are in the Bode Museum, Berlin.Condition report: Quite a lot of loss of colour and discolouration to the background.Glass loose.Mount is gilt metal.

Possibly a very light scratch under the sitter’s hair to the left of the head. The frame is a little dirty. Remnants of old stickers on case verso. Some of the gems are different tones.
William Read (1780-1827)A pair of portraits, a Gentleman wearing a blue coat, his arm tucked inside his white waistcoat, his sleeves trimmed with lace, his hair worn en queue, seated, before a pillar;and a Lady, with powdered grey wig and pearls in her hair, wearing a pale blue dress with white bodice and black sash with white fichueach signed and dated 'Read/1788', miniature on ivory, oval 8.6 x 6.6cm (2)Provenance: Bonhams, London, 20 May 2009, lot 54. Condition report: Gentleman – the dark paint on the coat, chair and background is very shiny. The dark paint on the chair and coat has tiny cracks and there is flaking at the base of the coat with some tiny flakes of paint loss. Some yellow staining around the top of the miniature. Some tiny scratches close to the right edge. Surface is uneven and slightly curved. A little surface dust. Some light scratches to the glass. The frame has light wear and there are remnants of stickers and old paper verso. Lady – A large dark stain across the background. Paint loss on the chest and shoulders of the dress. A pale outline to the background lower right and lower left, almost as if the background was painted over with a darker paint at some point. A couple of tiny flakes of paint loss in the background. Colours a little faded. Blue smudge on chin. Pale brown stains by lower edge. A few spots of dust and dirt. The frame is worn and there are remnants of tape, paper and stickers verso.

Original vintage advertising poster for Biscuits Emile Poult – Le Meilleur des Desserts / Emile Poult Biscuits – The Best Desserts. The humorous image by Etienne-Maurice-Frmin Bouisset (Firmin Bouisset) shows a young girl in a black dress, green and white blouse and blue sash with ribbons in her hair standing on a box and banging a large blue drum with Poult written on it.
