Acquired on the London art market in the late 1980s. Uma Parvati is the goddess in her benign manifestation and is the consort of the god Shiva. Tribal goddesses are primarily worshipped as protectors of the village against disease and evil spirits. Frame old but probably not original.

Opposite the signed page is a mounted black and white photograph of the Queen Mother sitting on a sofa and wearing a long dress, crown and ceremonial sash. Overall size 20.3 x 34.3cm when opened. A few stains to cover and light wear to margins, otherwise in very good condition.
