A late 19th century watercolour portrait of a little girl in white dress and yellow sash, signed bottom right Annie Howard and faintly dated 1899, (not removed from frame but believed to be portraying Audrey Scott and signed and dated verso), in rectangular gilt metal frame, 75 x 60mm approx and in red leather case
Suffragette Interest - Pewter belt buckle and belt in the Suffragette colours, the buckle bearing the ‘Haunted House’ image of a female haunting the Houses Of Parliament which represented the growth of female suffrage, size of buckle 6cm x 6.5cm together with a Suffragette sash with script ‘Votes For Women’. These buckles were sold by the Womens Social And Political Union to raise money for their cause. It was announced in Votes For Women dated August 6th 1908 ‘the latest novelty in the Union colours is a special belt and buckle, which is being sold at half-a-crown each. The buckle is a design taken from the picture of the Haunted House, and the belt is ribbon in the colours of the Union’. The Haunted House first appeared as a print in the Daily Chronicle in April 1907. It was drawn by David Wilson who was soon to become chief cartoonist for The Graphic’ Sash is somewhat faded - ** General condition consistent with age
