A rare pair of Bow Commedia dell'Arte figures of Harlequin and Columbine dancing c.1765-70, each dressed in colourful costume and stepping with one foot off the tall pierced bases, Harlequin with a mask suspended from his sash and holding a hat in his left hand, red and gold anchor and dagger marks, some repairs, 18cm. Uniform of a Colonel on the Un-Attached list, worn by Prince Ernest Augustus, circa 1878. Prince Ernest Augustus of Hanover, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Prince of Great Britain and Ireland: Fore and Aft Hat maker marked "Cater & Co. 56, Pall Mall, London" complete with original transit tin and his Scarlet Full Dress Tunic with crimson silk sash. The tunic has loops for his awards in place. As worn by Ernest Augustus II, 3rd Duke of Cumberland during his visit to the Prince of Wales in 1878 where he met his future wife, the then Princess of Denmark. Comes with the previous lot labels from Sotherbys and Wallis and Wallis.
