A Berlin rectangular plaque, well painted by G Richler, with Queen Louise, draped with flowing white robe and pink sash, 17cm x 11cm, the verso inscribed Konigin Louise Nach G. Richler, framed. Princess Louise was born on March 10, 1776 in Hanover, Germany, the daughter of Prince Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Early in 1792, when Louise was 16, her uncle, hoping to strengthen the ties between his family and the Prussian royal family, carefully plotted a meeting between Louise and Crown Prince Frederick William III. The plan worked, and they married. The Prince became King when his father died in 1797

The gilt bronze face with scaly centre surmounted by a gilt male figure with a billowing sash and seated upon a large bronze dolphin. The plinth having a rectangular frieze cast with a figural scene above a palmate border.
