An interesting small group of South East Asian textiles, including two shoulder cloths by the Kain Batak of Bastragi in northern Sumatra in cotton plainweave with supplementary warp and weft decoration, the outer sections woven separately and joined vertically; two other Batak shoulder cloths and one sash, two of the latter with narrow vertical bands of warp-faced decoration, some with ikat. A length of cotton ikat from Gorontalo (Philippines?) and a watercolour of a Sumba ikat signed lower left in pencil 'Desmaa Sundaoer' and inscribed lower right 'Etnogr. Musaeum ND'.
