A boullework brass and tortoiseshell document box, early 19th century, the lid with contra-partie strapwork designs encompassing flowers, scrollwork, monkeys with butterflies on ribbons with birds, the beaded border opening to reveal a velvet-lined interior, the sides with boullework and sash borders, raised on claw feet, 48.5cm wide 34cm deep 13cm high CONDITION REPORT: Areas of tortoiseshell missing to the top lid, cracking and raised areas throughout, borders and edging loose and worn.

A number of chips and cracks can be observed to the arms. He has been repaired poorly with glue, and there is a noticeable amount of damage underneath the urn in the middle of his chest, going down towards the waist. General wear, markings and rubbings can be observed to the rest of the body, with rubbing around the base. Figure 2 of the young woman in the gold robe: displays general wear and markings, noticeable areas have been worn off the robe and sash, extremities are intact. Norman Hartnell (1901-1979) A pencil, watercolour and gouache fashion illustration by Norman Hartnell for an evening gown for HRH Princess Margaret, late 1950`s. The gown with slash neckline and short sleeves, fitted bodice and full ballooned skirt is embroidered in gold with scattered coloured brilliants, worn with a blue sash. Signed Norman Hartnell, framed and glazed, approx 47.5cm x 40.5cm. Provenance: This design was given by Norman Hartnell to the vendors mother who was a close friend.
