MARCONI GUGLIELMO: (1874-1937) Italian Inventor, developed a radio telegraph system. Nobel Prize winner for Physics, 1909. Vintage signed colour 5.5 x 7 magazine photograph of Marconi standing in a three quarter length pose wearing a ceremonial uniform, sash and medals and holding a hat in his hands. Signed ('Guglielmo Marconi') in dark fountain pen ink to the image and dated 1934 in his hand. With three horizontal and one vertical folds, just affecting the image, and neatly laid down to card. About G The image may well have been taken on the occasion of Marconi being made Rector of the University of St Andrews, a post which he held from 1934-37.
VICTOR EMMANUEL III: (1869-1947) King of Italy 1900-46, Emperor of Ethiopia 1936-41 & King of the Albanians 1939-43 & ELENA OF MONTENEGRO (1873-1952) Queen of Italy 1900-46, wife of Victor Emmanuel III. A good pair of signed 7 x 11 photographs by the King and Queen individually, the King's image depicting him in a formal head and shoulders study wearing a uniform with medals and a sash. Signed in bold, dark fountain pen ink to a light area at the base of the image with an additional sentiment in Italian. Dated Chesterfield House, June 1897 in his hand. The Queen's image shows her seated in an elegant three quarter length pose, in semi-profile, wearing a crown. Signed in dark fountain pen ink to a light area at the base of the image and also dated Chesterfield House, June 1897 in her hand. Both photographs are professionally matted in purple and framed and glazed in matching ornate gilt plaster frames to an overall size of 11 x 17 each. Some light overall mottling to the King's image, otherwise VG, 2 The present photographs were signed at the time of the King and Queen of Italy's visit to London for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. They would have attended a large fancy dress ball celebrating the Diamond Jubilee at Devonshire House in Piccadilly along with the future King Edward VII and other Royal guests.

A small collection of Murano glass fish and birds; together with two similar glass figures, largest 46.5cm high. Condition Report: THE LARGER FIGURE appears undamaged apart from a slight bruising to the frill on the right arm and the back edge of the frilled sash. The inside leg has a very rough edge which we assume is part of the manufacturing process. THE BLACK AND WHITE CLOWN signed to the base 'Franco Toppelo' has lost the left hand thumb.
A 20th century child's uniform for a British Officer of the Napoleonic wars comprising red coatee with blue flashes and gilt decoration with brass buttons, Officers maroon sash, sword, straight single edged blade, length of blade 35cm, with solid gilt metal grip and guard, complete with matching brass mounted leather scabbard, a black felt hat with red and white feathers, black coquette and Costumier brass button, bears label W. Clarkson, Perruquier and Costumia 41 & 43 Wardour Street London W1, also with this lot a brass gorgete with George III cipher surmounted by a crown and two pairs of cream trousers and matching gaiters. JOHN BUNCOMBE (fl. c.1790 - c.1830) Unsigned, watercolour on card, portrait miniature silhouette, of Captain George Crawford of the 110th Regiment of Foot, in profile to right, wearing scarlet uniform with buff coloured facings, white cross sash, and silver epaulette, in a rectangular black paper- mache frame, with oval slip, inscribed with sitters name verso. Crawford gained Captaincy 6th June 1794, although following the regiments disbandment, by 1795 he had transferred to the 33rd Regiment of Foot, becoming Captain again 1st September that year. 8.5cm x 7cm.
