* LOUISE GIBSON ANNAND MBE (SCOTTISH 1915 - 2012),MINERVA STREET, GLASGOWwatercolour on paper, signed, titled and dated '83, further described label versoimage size 17cm x 16cm, overall size 34cm x 32cmMounted, framed and under glass. Label verso: T & R Annan & Sons, Glasgow. Note: Louise Annand was a Scottish painter and film-maker, she graduated from Glasgow University in 1937 with Honours in English Literature whilst simultaneously pursuing her love of Art and drawing with night classes in Art. She was a major contributor to Scottish documentaries and was an influential female filmmaker in a field that was dominated mostly by males. She mingled with such luminaries as J D Fergusson and Margaret Morris, eventually becoming president of the JD Fergusson Foundation. Despite her dual existence as artist and teacher, Miss Annand found time to act as a member of the business committee of the University of Glasgow and as chairman of the Glasgow Graduates Association. She served on the Fine Art Commission for Scotland and as president both of the Society of Scottish Women Artists (now VAS) and of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. Her role as an educator was marked with the award of the MBE in 1980, while Glasgow University recognised the artist with an honorary doctorate in 1997. Her book about J D Fergusson (1939 – 61) was published in 2003, while a retrospective exhibition of her painting was held at the Lillie Gallery, Milngavie in 2004.Condition report: Condition is good overall, with no visible signs of restoration, damage, or known issues.

Doyle (Sir Arthur Conan) The Hound of the Baskervilles, first edition, with "you" for "your" on p.13 line 3, 16 plates by Sidney Paget, endpapers lightly browned, ownership stamps to first few pages, very occasional finger-soiling marks, original red pictorial cloth, stamped in gilt and black, light staining to spine, extremities bumped but an unusually bright and sharp copy overall, [Green & Gibson A26; Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone], 8vo, 1902.⁂ Sherlock Holmes' most famous adventure and one of the most celebrated crime novels of all time, rare in present condition.
Doyle (Sir Arthur Conan) The Poison Belt, first American edition, faint foxing to endpapers, original cloth, light rubbing to spine tips and corners, dust-jacket priced at $1.20, very slight darkening to spine, spine ends and corners chipped affecting publisher's imprint at foot and just touching title at head, chip to upper fore-edge, extremities rubbed, light creasing to head and foot, but a very good copy overall of a rare jacket, [Green and Gibson A38c], 8vo, New York, 1913.⁂ A rare dust-jacket not recorded by Green and Gibson. We can trace only one other example at auction in the last 50 years. The Poison Belt features Doyle's science fiction counterpart to Holmes, Professor Challenger.

Some minor surface scratches, dents and dings to be expected, together with a little crease to the edge of the parapet. Hinge a little loose. Handle a little loose in the sockets and split through just behind the scroll decoration to the top together with a minor vertical split to the bottom end by the socket. Newcastle won 2–0, the goals scored by Neil Harris and Stan Seymour. The match has become commonly known as the "Rainy Day" final due to the weather that day, a consequence of which has led to there being very few good condition programmes left from the game. Many fans used their match programmes as makeshift umbrellas.
