Signed by each in bold black inks to clear areas of the image, one adding 'Best Wishes from the crew of Skylab III' in their hand at the head of the image. About EX The manned Skylab missions were officially designated Skylab 2, 3 and 4 however miscommunication about the numbering resulted in the mission emblems reading Skylab I, Skylab II and Skylab 3 respectively, hence the astronaut using Skylab III on the present photograph.

Napoleonic War 1805 West Midlothian Volunteer Infantry Presentation Sword. An impressive and rare presentation sword by the cutler Gibson Thomson & Craig of Edinburgh. The curved single edged blade with central fuller is approximately 29 1/2 inches long. The hilt appears to be a unique design, the fire gilt cross guard in the form of a Fascist, the base supporting a double link gilt chain which terminates with a ring supported by a lion head mask. This mounted into the white bone grip, this with lined and chequered decoration. The Fascist is mounted with langets of classical form decorated with three crescent moons. Housed in original shagreen scabbard, this with fire gilt mounts, engraved with floral decoration. The reverse of the top mount with the cutler's details and a engraved presentation 'PRESENTED BY THE NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS & PRIVATES OF THE WESTERN REGT OF MIDLOTHIAN VOL INFY TO PATRICK WALKER ESQ THEIR MAJOR AS A MARK OF THEIR ESTEEM FOR HIM AS AN OFFICER & A GENTLEMAN 5TH NOV 1805'. The overall condition is very good, fire gilt remains bright, slight age wear to the blade with light rust areas to the forte. Dent to the chape, blade fully fits in the scabbard. Major Patrick Walker served with the 2nd Midlothian Regiment Western Battalion and was appointed Major on the 23rd November 1803, this appears to be the date the Regiment was formed.

[SUMPTER LEONARD]: (1911-1993) British Royal Air Force Flight Sergeant, a member of 617 Squadron who participated in Operation Chastise (The Dambusters Raid) as Bomb aimer of Lancaster ED929/G AJ-L, 16th-17th May 1943. Two Limited Edition, full colour, English bone china commemorative plates produced by Royal Worcester in 1992 in honour of the Dambusters Raid, entitled 'Hold at 60ft', each with an image by artist Wilfred Hardy, depicting two Lancaster bombers flying over the sea, during David Shannon's 'dummy run' at Reculver, just days before the actual raid, one having just released a bouncing bomb, the plates each with a diameter of 7½ inches and both printed to the underside 'Second issue in Wilfred Hardy's The Dambusters, a limited edition plate series commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the heroic Dambusters raid', Numbered 2986 B and 7264 A and being from an edition 'strictly limited to a maximum firing period of 75 days'. Both with Certificates of Authenticity and printed booklet issued by Royal Worcester. Contained in the original Royal Worcester packaging and cardboard presentation boxes, both marked with various ink annotations relating to Sumpter. Together with a white bone china commemorative plate celebrating the Dambusters Raid, with a central image depicting two Lancaster bombers flying over a dam, together with a dedication to Guy Gibson and the aircrew between the R.A.F. badges of 617 Squadron and Bomber Commands, printed in monochrome within a gold lined rim. Produced by New Art Studios' Sheffield, to a diameter of 11 inches. Further including a white bone china commemorative plate entitled 'The Dambuster', with a central image depicting Guy Gibson above the inscription 'Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC, DSO', printed in royal blue with a gold line to the rim. A machine in a leather case with tinplate edges/reinforcements, both the ticket machine and case are stamped ‘57’ with evidence of purple ink to the base of the machine. Together with 3 unused rolls of tickets (NCR, T.I.M., National Cash Register) and some other items. GC for age, some dents to machine and wear/rusting to case.
