DAMBUSTERS MULTI-SIGNED: 8x10 inch photo signed by actor and war hero the late Richard Todd who took part in the operation to hold Pegasus Bridge on D-Day, 6th June 1944 and went on to become a successful actor, starting in The Longest Day and probably his best known role as Guy Gibson in The Dambusters. Also signed by George Johnson DFM who actually took part in the Dams raid in Lancaster AJ-T as well as the late Ray Grayston, who also flew on the Dams raid. Good condition
Eighteenth Century, leather bound Monthly Accounts Ledger (8vo) for Roger Pettiward of Finborough Hall, Suffolk, UK. The period covered is from 1789 to 1796. The ledger may have been kept by a second party, possibly a Steward of the estate, as it has been periodically checked and signed off by Pettiward. Under expenditure items such as 'Doz. Port Wine - £1. 4s'; Boots - £1.7s; Fletcher for dinner £4.2s.6d; Gibson, Saddler, £1.12s; 6 Views of Switzerland, £4.14s; Entrance Suffolk Club, £1.1s; Clarke for Horses to Xmas 1791, £22. 6s; Knight for Books, £6.10s; Maidservant, £3.3s.' and many other details relating to his activities are recorded. There are extensive entries for some months, less for others when he is travelling. A substantial income is also recorded in less detail. There are entries on the front paste-down relating to the recruitment of Grooms (on basis of references supplied) at the annual rate of 20 Guineas and half a crown travelling wages. Altogether a unique and fascinating insight into the life and activities of an 18thC. Gentleman. Vg.

A group of three manuscript conveyance deeds in English on vellum, 2nd May 1588, 26th November 1591 & 1st June 1602, the first between Richard Vavasour and Peter Newarke concerning land in Acaster Maldis in the city of York, the second between Peter Newarke and John Gibson concerning land in Acaster, the third between John Richardson and Richard Bell concerning property in York, all with calligraphic initials and indented upper margins, the second and third with red wax seals still appended, the former with an impression of a boar`s head, the latter (slightly damaged) showing an impression of a church [St. Peter`s, York?], approx. 30 x 42cm and slightly larger (3)
