Limited edition Gibson FDH archtop acoustic guitar, made between 1937 and 1941 specifically for the UK market (to be imported by Francis Day and Hunter Music in London). Specially designed Gibson logo and fretboard inlays. Trapezoidal tailpiece, wooden floating bridge, open tuners, tortoiseshell effect pickguard and black and white checked binding around the top of the guitar. The back of the headstock is stamped "MADE IN THE U.S.A." and 132 (although reputedly only 120 of these guitars were made).The front of the guitar has a number of marks and scratches, some deep. The sides are fine with a few scratches and a wear patch at the top right, close to the back binding. The two-piece back is in very good condition with a wear patch at the top right, aligning with the similar wear patch on the side. The rear of the neck shows a lot of signs of wear. The pickguard is missing one of its screws.The hardshell case appears to be of the correct vintage with the interior green felt showing being loose along the back of the guitar and around the headstock areaProvenance: Previous owner bought this in 1937 via advert (when there was an Embargo on exportation from America so they were transported through Canada to Britain) played for the Lincolnshire Regiment Band and the Royal Artillery Band during WWII, on the onset of D-Day posted the guitar home via the railway just in its case with address written on

The Frank Strike Collection of Cornish Shipwreck Lantern Slides An important collection of 'Magic Lantern' slides, annotated, catalogued, well preserved and boxed, together with a magic lantern projector made by JH Steward (Optician) of 406, Strand and 457 West Strand London. Grouped into categories; Shipwrecks: 221 slides, Life saving inventions: 24 slides, Porthleven: 68 slides, Breage: 9 slides, freedom of Helston: 12 slides. Multiple historical images, the majority taken by by the Gibson family of photographers and Alfred Hawke of Helston.Shipwreck subjects include: Alexander Yeats 1896, Andola 1895, Bay of Panama 1891, early shipwreck diving on the Anson, Cromdale 1913, Cviet 1884, Glenbervie 1902, Jeune Hortense 1888, Lady of the Isles, Lamorna 1904, Marie Celine 1901, Minnehaha 1873, Mohegan 1898, Queen Margaret 1913, Seuvic 1907, Tripolitania, 1912, Barque William 1865 and multiple others.This exceptional collection was put together by the noteable local historian Frank Strike, and used by him for many years to give illustrated lectures. Frank Strike was born in 1895 and started out as a shipwright, later becoming a builder and undertaker. In 1929 he joined the coastguard, to which he dedicated forty years of his life. He held the Coastguard long service medal for 35 years as Number One in the Life-saving Team, during which time he was responsible for aiming and firing the rocket that carried the rope to the shipwreck. He started his slide collection in 1947 and went on to combine it with his passion for local history, particularly the history of Porthleven, by giving regular lectures with the slides. He gave lectures as often as once or twice a week. Frank died in 1967 and his collection has been carefully preserved by his family.

THE 6TH DAY (2000) - Adam Gibson's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) Helicopter Remote Control and a Roadrunners American Football HelmetAdam Gibson's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) helicopter remote control and a Roadrunners football helmet from Roger Spottiswoode's sci-fi action film The 6th Day. Charter pilot Gibson tested out his upgraded helicopter remote control after dropping off a group of snowboarders at the start of the film. In the foreshadowing opening sequence, American football quarterback Johnny Phoenix (Steve Bacic) suffered a near fatal injury, and despite being euthanised in the ambulance, he was later pronounced ready for the next week's game.This remote control comprises a plastic arm cover lined with foam padding; two metal-and-rubber clasps; two rubber-and-plastic control panels, one on either side of the arm frame, which have functioning buttons; and a controller stick which swivels and has a functioning red trigger. The clasps and side control panels are glued in place and no longer open as seen on screen. The black plastic football helmet features, Riddell® branding; a rose-tinted acrylic visor encased by a metal frame coated in yellow plastic; yellow Roadrunner decals; and leather-covered foam padding adhered to the interior with Velcro®. Also included is a grey crew fleece labelled size "L". The remote control exhibits damage from production use, including broken clasps, and the left control panel had previously snapped off. These have all since been repaired and glued in place, with remnants of glue visible. Wallace used his hammer to knock an English cavalryman off his horse and impale his skull. The hammer is made of wood, varnished dark brown, with a solid metal head that is attached to the shaft by two long pieces of metal. The hammer has a robust and weighty feel.
