Four late Victorian table candlesticks, the bell shaped sconces with swags in low relief and lotus leaf bases, the detachable nozzles with foliate borders, raised on fluted columns with ram mask head capitals conjoined by swags and oval paterae set to the column base, the square bases each with an urn to three sides and a shaped plain cartouche to the fourth, all conjoined by a continuous garland of bell drops with lotus leaves to the corners and acanthus leaf border, 30.5cm (12") high, 1894 by William Gibson and John Langman (the first directors of the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co Ltd) (see illustration)

A 19th Century Child's 'Gibson' Chair. The top rail above four turned spindles; the outer two piercing the shaped block arms. The arm terminals on front posts with restraining bar holes to the insides. The block seat on four short splayed rustic legs, 16½ ins (42 cms) high, 15½ ins (39 cms) wide, 12½ ins (32 cms) deep.
Cycling. A Souvenir Programme to commemorate the breaking of the End-to-End [Land's End to John O'Groats] Cycle Record by Jack Rossiter, August 22-24, 1929, in a time of 61 hours, 22 minutes, on a Raleigh 3-Speed Club Model, the programme for a meal at The Restaurant Frascati, Dec. 3rd, 1929, signed by Rossiter, his race team (Bidlake, Gibson, Toplis, Young and Barker), and others; also a printed race schedule marked 'Private and Confidential'; nine photographs of Rossiter and his team, including views of the rider and his bicycle outside the start and finish hotels; and a contemporary magazine report. Note: The previous record had been held by Harry Green whose route covered a distance of 837 miles, utilizing a ferry at one point. Rossiter was the first to follow an all-road route of 866 miles. Asked for his lasting impression of the journey in a subsequent interview, Rossiter replied 'Rain, and then more rain!...It simply poured all the way to Bristol...[and] was most wretched through Whitchurch, Warrington, [and] Wigan...It seemed like the end of the world as well as the end of the alphabet...'.
A set of Stavros Niarchos racing colours signed by Cash Asmussen in 1993, by Gibson (Saddlers) of Newmarket, the white cap signed by the jockey in blue biro The most successful horse to carry Mr Niarchos's familiar colours was the filly Miesque who won the English & French 1000 Guineas, the Breeders' Cup Mile any many other important races. Mr Niarchos (1909-1996) was leading owner in France on two occasions, and topped the breeders' list three times.
