A Souvenir Programme to commemorate the breaking of the End-to-End [Land's End to John O'Groats] Cycle Record by Jack Rossiter, August 22-24, 1929, in a time of 61 hours, 22 minutes, on a Raleigh 3-Speed Club Model, the programme for a meal at The Restaurant Frascati, Dec. 3rd, 1929, signed by Rossiter, his race team (Bidlake, Gibson, Toplis, Young and Barker), and others; also a printed race schedule marked 'Private and Confidential'; nine photographs of Rossiter and his team, including views of the rider and his bicycle outside the start and finish hotels; and a contemporary magazine report. Note: The previous record had been held by Harry Green whose route covered a distance of 837 miles, utilizing a ferry at one point. Rossiter was the first to follow an all-road route of 866 miles. Asked for his lasting impression of the journey in a subsequent interview, Rossiter replied 'Rain, and then more rain!...It simply poured all the way to Bristol...[and] was most wretched through Whitchurch, Warrington, [and] Wigan...It seemed like the end of the world as well as the end of the alphabet...'.

Mr Niarchos (1909-1996) was leading owner in France on two occasions, and topped the breeders' list three times.
