A 19th century French Empire bronze and ormolu mantel timepiece, modelled with a black sailor leaning against a bundle and anchor, with purse of money on top, later dial and movement, width 6.5in. height 7.25in.CONDITION: Case in reasonable order, a little dirty, ormolu still bright although a little rubbed particularly around the plinth, wirework running from the top of the anchor to the hand has come loose, movement is a pocket watch movement that winds from below, enamel dial is damaged and discoloured around 6 and 7, a later octagonal backplate has been screwed into place which does a fair job of covering the aperture, movement going but not tested for timekeeping.
