Ephemera – Royalty a superb collection of approx 44 original designs in watercolour possibly by a designed for Garrard for items of Royal jewellery 19th c. Various sizes mounted on card. A fascinating collection. One item is identified as being for a gold pocket watch for the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). This is further identified as ‘India 1876’- presumably for a Royal tour. Other items carry Masonic insignia

Alford, Member of the Bristol Humane Society and Winner of the Scarce Scout Association Gallantry Cross, for the rescue of a 7 year old boy who fell into the Floating Harbour, Bristol 10.9.1933, Scout Association Silver Cross for Gallantry, reverse engraved `R.W. Alford 15-11-33`, silver (Hallmarks for Birmingham 1932 by Collins London), minor edge knock otherwise extremely fine, with card case of issue, with; Bristol Humane Society certificate, dated 18.12.1933, present `Charles Hardcastle Abbot Esq` in the Chair. Printed `It was Resolved unanimously that`, inscribed in ink `a silver watch together with this the Honorary Testimonial of the Society inscribed on Parchment be given to Richard William Alford age 14 of 39 Colston Road, Easton, Bristol for having on the 10th day of September 1933 gone to the rescue of Kenneth William Rundle age 7 of 22 Wellington Street Cathay Bristol who was in imminent danger of drowning in the Floating Harbour Bristol and whose life he gallantly saved`, Silver Open Face Pocket Watch by Kemp Brothers, Union Street, Bristol, reverse engraved `Presented by Bristol Humane Society to Richard William Alford Age 14 Years for Saving Life on 10th September 1933` (Hallmarks for Birmingham 1924) Boy Scout Richard William Alford, born in St Pauls, Bristol 5.5.1919, son of Elizabeth Louisa Brain, the following account is from a direct descendant `Richard Alford dived into the water taking the young boy under a boat away from the side of the dock into open water as he was in danger of being squashed between the dockside and the boat`.
