An eighteenth-century gilt copper pair-cased pocket watch, plain outer case, the white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and hands constructed from gold-coloured metal, the movement signed, "Pickett & Rundell London" and numbered 704, diameter 5cm approxPhilip Rundell was apprenticed and went into the London goldsmith's business Theed & Pickett which became Pickett & Rundell in 1781. The firm had a major showroom at 32 Ludgate Hill and manufacturing subsidiaries, one run by Benjamin Smith (and for some years Digby Scott) in Greenwich, and another by Paul Storr in Dean Street, London. In 1799 Rundell is estimated as the joint-eighth richest non-royal person in Britain, owning £1M. He was one of ten known such British millionaires in 1799.

HARRISON & SON, LIVERPOOL; a gold plated open face crown wind pocket watch, with Brooklyn Watch Case Company case and Swiss movement, the white enamelled dial set with Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds hand, diameter 43mm, also a 9ct gold cased open face crown wind pocket watch by John Russell of London, the white enamelled dial set with Roman numerals, diameter 42mm (af) (2).Condition Report: -The John Russell example has a badly misshapen outer case, the lens is cracked. Overall weight approx. 78.6g.The lens on the M. Harrison example appears to be a later plastic example and it has faded somewhat, leaving a yellow tinge visible to the dial. The dial itself has a split visible from near the number 8, through the subsidiary hand and heading towards the number 5.Both examples tick when wound.
