Cricket and Jewish Interest:- The Salmon Challenge Shield, a cricketing trophy shield, silver-plated mounts on oak shield, centre with oval plaque within oak leaf surround depicting, in relief, a cricket match below a ribbon-tied laurel swag in turn below a scroll inscribed "Salmon Challenge Shield 1925", at base an escutcheon inscribed "Presented by Major Isidore Salmon CBE, DL, MP to the Hanwell Cricket Club for annual competition in the Hanwell Schools Cricket League", the easel back with label for Mappin & Webb as retailers and applied with 23 silver and silver plated shields(one shield absent) inscribed with year and winning school, 51 cm. high.Sir Isidore Salmon CBE,DL,MP, JP (1876-1941) was a Conservative politician and MP for Harrow where he replaced Oswald Mosley after the latter defected to the Labour Party. He was also Vice President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and active in the management of J. Lyons & Co.
