MAPPIN & WEBB; a cold painted spelter figural inkwell modelled as a Zulu warrior on circular loaded base with lozenge mark indicating 1879, height approx 23.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Has lost the glass, quite heavy surface wear throughout with loss to the paintwork, surface scratches, nicks, wear, dents etc, the base also with considerable wear, scratches, some deep gouges, some small dents, rubbing to the finish, surface dirt etc. The joint between figures necklace and chest does not sit flush and has a small gap and particular wear to the paintwork where these two meet, the hinge is loose, his removable throwing club may have been longer at one time or indeed taken another form and this is a replacement and is made out of wood whereas the shield is original and is the same material as the figure.
