Sterling silver scalloped cigar box by Mappin & Webb. The centre of the box is engraved with the regimental crest of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and below which is inscribed; "Presented by the Officers to Major G.S Beattie MBE on his retirement after thirty eight years service with the battalion 1912-1950". Surrounding this text are the signatures of the battalions officers expertly reproduced in the box' body.Condition:Inscriptions and hallmarks heavily rubbed. Numerous dents, the largest being to the top left and right hand corners. Interior wooden lip snapped off but present in box.

Lias & Son, London 1864, with openwork scroll thumbpiece, foliate capped loop handle and engraved foliate scrolled openwork frieze revealing blue glass liner, 3¼in. (8.4cm.) high; together with a silver pepperette of plain baluster form, Mappin & Webb, Birmingham 1938, weight without glass liner 5.5 tr.oz. (2) * The glass liner slightly small, replaced; pepper with small dents to belly.
