A George I Burr Yewwood Veneered and Mahogany Sided Secretaire Chest, early 18th century, the moulded top above a deep fall front drawer enclosing a fitted interior of small drawers and pigeon holes around a central cupboard door, three deep drawers below, on bracket feet, 96cm by 52cm by 104cm CONDITION REPORT: The timber is rather dry particularly to the top section which has various splits with some small veneer losses. Side panels are mahogany and the drawers are pine lined. The secretaire drawer with old repair to the cupboard door around the escutcheon. Some veneer missing to the front section above the left bracket foot and also above the right bracket foot. End panels also have some splits.
Of Royal Interest: a George III mahogany secretaire bookcase chest base, the back stamped with a crown, inscribed 'V.R' and labelled 'The Property of The Lord Chamberlain', 125cm wide. Provenance: from Windsor Castle, where the vendor's father Roger Oliver was Master of The Horse, 1965 - circa early 1990s.
