An Edwardian mahogany secretaire desk cabinet by Sopwith & Co, the moulded cornice above pair of folding cupboard doors enclosing arrangement of pigeon holes, shelves, and drawers and fall front with leather lined writing surface, the base section with two banks of four drawers, on turned feet, with metal plaque to the back of the top section, 144cm high, 122cm wide, 73cm deep. Note: Thomas Sopwith, son of a cabinet maker, invented an ingenious type of desk with all its drawers secured by a single lock, name the Monocleid, which won a prize in the 1851 Great Exhibition.
