All long drawers having Oak linings, brass swan neck handles, cock beaded edges and pierced, shaped escutcheons, standing on bracket feet. 43 1/2'' wide x 76 1/4'' high x 20 3/8'' deep

He executed marquetry of a high standard with kingwood flowers in bois de bout, on a tulipwood ground, for which he became well known and was very close in style to B V R B and Dubois. A William IV/early Victorian secretaire bookcase, bowfronted, with moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors, the base fitted with a secretaire drawer with fall front and sliding writing surface, series of drawers and pigeonholes, with three further graduated drawers with wooden knob handles flanked by reeded quarter column corners, with moulding below and raised on turned feet. Width 49 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Width across top of lower section 49.25 inches. Height of lower section 43.25 inches. Overall height 88 inches. Maximum depth 25 inches. Maximum depth of bookcase top 11 inches. Minimum depth 8.25 inches. The piece is in generally good original condition. There are some minor problems but nothing of any major significance. There is a small piece of moulding detached at the top right hand side below the cornice. We have the loose piece. The doors are in good condition and there is no damage to any of the glass panels. The sides of the cabinet are in good order on both the top and bottom. There is some small veneer loss to the top right hand corner of the top and a very small section of crossbanding missing at the same point but on the front right hand edge. The secretaire interior is generally in good condition. There is one interior drawer knob handle missing and one loose. The fall front secretaire is a little stiff but operates as it should as does the sliding writing surface. The secretaire drawer front is in good condition as are the handles. The second drawer has a damaged right hand handle which has a screw through the centre and a small section of the backplate is missing on the underside edge. The is also a small section of cockbeading missing on the left hand bottom edge of the drawer. The third and fourth drawers and handles are all in good condition. The corner columns are in generally good order although there is one very small loss to the bottom of the right hand column. The left hand column has a small piece of beading missing just below the turned section. The applied beaded front edge has a detached section of corner beaded moulding. We have the pieces. The right and left hand return mouldings are in good order. The original feet are generally in good condition with only minor scuffs and losses. The backboards are in good order and original.

A late Georgian mahogany secretaire bookcase, with moulded cornice, glazed doors, secretaire drawer, pair of panelled cupboard doors beneath and raised on short sabre front legs. Width 47 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This bookcase is in unrestored condition. The cornice and crossbanded frieze are in good order. The glazed doors are not warped but there are losses to the glazing on both doors. There is also a damaged section of glass. The backboards are original. The sides of the top are in good order. The top of the base has some liquid staining to the centre right and various old and not so old scratches caused by moving the bookcase top. The moulded edge is in good order. The secretaire drawer is in good condition and operates as it should. The interior is fairly plain but clean. The sides of the base are in good condition. The bottom doors are not warped but part of the centre brass edging strip is missing. The turned columns are fine although the left hand one is sun bleached. The rear left hand leg is present but currently detached. The front legs are fine but have scuffs and small losses to the very ends of the feet. The two interior trays to the bottom section are present. Width across centre 46.5 ins, depth 22.5 ins, depth of bookcase top 12.75 ins, overall height 90 ins, height to top of base 42.75 ins.
